She Says: Sigg, Why Have You Forsaken Me?

I’m a hip, earth loving person, so obvy about six months ago I bought a Sigg water bottle. But yesterday when I saw this on Kath’s blog, I was outraged at Anne P.’s nice shiny Sigg staring at me.  Mocking me, really.

You see I have a love hate relationship with my Sigg.  Let  me tell you why. I have same red and gold Sigg bottle as Anne P., but within 24 hours of buying mine this happened:

Two giant dents.

The "Quarter and Nickle" dents.

In an unprecedented show of boldness (seriously, I am so weak), I emailed Sigg to declare my sadness. No one wrote back and and then a week later this happened.

The "Strange Diagonal" Dent

I don’t know when this happened:

The "Who Cares At this Point?" Dent

Now I’m just waiting for the bottom to fall out.

Actually, I love my Sigg bottle. It’s pretty, and as previously alluded to, tells the world that I am a complete sucker with-it. Also, it keeps my liquids very cold and there is currently no research indicating that it will give me cancer. But seriously, I know I am the clumsiest person in the world, but am I wrong to expect a bit more resiliancy from what amounts to a $25 cup? Luckily I bought it with a gift card or would be really mad. :)

Do you have a Sigg?  Is it dented like mine, or pristine like Anne P.’s?

Breakfast

This morning I had another great run.  Well, actually, the first 10 minutes were horrible because I had the hiccups, but distracted by the Today Show, they went away and ran on!

For breakfast,  one of my new favorite summer foods – Chobani vanilla, oats, flax and a banana on the side.

Giant banana and yogurt.

i tried to buy a sigg bottle, since its the “thing to do.” but they were backordered several months! instead i bought a water bottle with the dreaded #6 at the bottom. i will probably die of stomach cancer tomorrow.

    :P

    thanks for the itunes list!

  2. VeggieGirl Says:

I don’t have a Sigg, and I don’t think I want one after seeing those dents, haha ;-)

Oooh, great iTunes list!! I’m always looking for new songs to add to my iPod :-)

  3. Mark Says:

    Heather, a list:

    1. You’re clumsy
    2. I don’t understand the purpose of using the bottle? Is it a “green” thing?
    3. Why is it so expensive?
    4. I’m hungry but not so hungry as to be angry.
    5. I am working on my Meet Mark page.
    6. It will have lots of pictures so people can see my beautiful face.
    7. The numbers don’t apply anymore since I’m talking about other things.
    8. Have you seen pictures of Jake Gyyyyyyyyyylenhal with no shirt on walking on the set of Prince of Persia? He’s eclipsed Mcccchonehayhay.
    9. A metal bottle should not easily dent when it costs 25 dollars even when you’re clumsy.
    10. Muah

  4. C Says:

I don’t have a sig, the opening that you drink from does not appeal to me.

  5. sarah Says:

I’m inclined to assert that, based on that list, Fitness mag readers have been listening to too much Z100. Or I haven’t listened to enough. I just can’t get over a song being named “My Humps,” though.

  6. WeightingGame Says:

i say rock the dents – they make you seem rough-and-tumble!

  7. Kelly Says:

You crack me up Heather. Mine is dented as well. My boyfriend bought it for me for Christmas for the same reasons you’ve mentioned. I love it but I am a bit perfectionist (okay I admit it, OCD) and the dents drive me nuts!!!

  8. fitnessista Says:

i do not have a sigg water bottle, but since they’re so trendy i might need to get one. i totally agree with weightinggame- keep it with the dents, it makes you look so hardcore!
thanks for the playlist, i can’t wait to check it out :) my ipod is in desperate need of an update!
i’ve totally had the hiccups on the treadmill before!! that’s awesome you powered through it!
    have a wonderful day!

  9. Anne P Says:

Haha aw that is so sad! I’m sorry yours is dented :( Mine is only nice because it lives in my office :) All my other water bottles are totally banged up since I drag them all over the place!

  10. chandra Says:

I laughed when you said you had the hiccups while running… :) Sorry, I’m sure it wasn’t funny, but I always burp when I run, which also makes me laugh because it’s weird!!

  11. Heather Says:

My Sigg water bottles have huge dents – they are not nice looking anymore.

I also bought them for fear of cancer after I threw away all of my beloved Nalgene bottles.

  12. sara Says:

you should get a kleen kanteen bottle, 100% stainless steel and DOES NOT dent. i’ve dropped mine, crashed it into the corner of walls, and it’s still perfect! plus the openings are better than the sigg bottles, in my opinion.
sidenote-my father (a neurologist) hated the idea of me drinking out of a sigg (aluminum) as there is some correlation between aluminum and alzheimers. no worries with stainless steel, though, so i’m sticking with that.

  13. Erin Says:

I am bucking the trend and keeping my Nalgene.

  14. Anne P Says:

I still have all my Nalgenes too… I bought a smaller size Sigg that I was planning on keeping in my purse, but you have to make the lid so tight so it doesn’t leak it was annoying. I kept not sealing it tight enough and getting my stuff wet. So… I still use my little Nalgene everywhere except in the office! :) And when I go hiking I always bring Nalgenes too since I have a bunch of huge ones that I can bang around and won’t dent so easily as Sigg!!

  15. Jenn Says:

Aww that just makes me sad (and maybe giggle a little, but only because of the way you wrote the post). Especially the “Who Cares At This Point?” dent. I am totally the same way with things – I am close to tears the first time it gets scratched, but as time goes on I might as well throw it down a flight of stairs for all I care ;)

I’ve got a Chobani vanilla in my fridge waiting to be eaten. I like your combination!

  16. mi Says:

it’s very pretty but to me it looks like it could easily get dented, so i don’t think you have supreme clumsiness! i hope the bottom doesn’t fall out, at least not in your bag.

  17. sarah Says:

i have a sigg and it is pristine which is bizarre considering i usually trash everything i own. i’m sure it’s only a matter of time!

to the person who wanted one but they were backordered – whole foods sells them in the store (or at least my local wf does). maybe try looking there?

  18. Andrea Says:

I rock the Camelback bottle with the nipple. That’s right, my water bottle has a nipple.
The opaque plastic water bottles have always been fine, and I think by now, all of the see-through plastic water bottles are made without BPA. They’ll have a sticker on them telling you that they’re safe.
Like “C” I am not a fan of the Sigg spout plus I have a weird aversion to drinking water out of aluminum – I think it alters the taste a bit.

  19. Heather Says:

Re: bottle – I got mine at Whole Foods and have seen them at EMS as well.

I didn’t like the opening at first either because I couldn’t fit ice, but it keeps things so cold that it doesn’t matter.

It actually doesn’t have a taste.

I never had a nalgene. Or a bottle with a nipple.

I AM rough and tumble, you’re right WeightingGame.

Playlist: Sarah, I concur re: z100, but I love fergie so I don’t care what she sings about.

    Jenn: Enjoy your chobani.

Anne P.: Is it weird that I feel oddly honored that you found my post about you? Also, I am also Anne with an e – middle name.

Mark: I have not seen the new pictures of Jake yet. I told my mom I thought you are cuter than him today. She sort of laughed, then said that was nice. Maybe we need a Jake Gylenhall tag.

  20. Anne P Says:

Haha I felt weirdly honored someone posted about my exciting cameo on Kath’s blog! Nice work on the Anne with an e. It’s the only way to spell it, clearly ;)

  22. crappysigg Says:

I know what you mean. These bottles are not what they’re advertised to be. Dents all over the place. Soon it will start to peel. Mark my words, the bottom WILL fall out.

My SIGG has dents. My brother went hiking and dropped it. I could hate it or love it or make him replace it.
    I still love it.

  25. Adventures of Alice Says:

My Sigg has dents as well!

  26. Josh Says:

    Mine has plenty of dents!
