She Says: The Day After the Wedding.

Mark has the pictures from the wedding on his camera and is currently locked out of his apartment, so those will have to wait for another day. Until then, we’ll skip ahead to today. I would forget the wedding altogether, but some interesting things happened on the HFCS front.

On the drive back from Philly this morningish, Mark and I shared a Blueberry Z-Bar. Mark enjoyed the “streusel” on top. I was hesitant because I don’t love blueberry muffins or blueberry pie, but it had a nice taste and I didn’t find it overwhelmingly sweet. Wouldn’t be my first choice, but it was good.

After yesterday’s carb-centric day, I decided to pay some attention to the vegetable food group. Mark and I had lunch in N.J. before I had to drive back to R.I. I got a big salad at Whole Foods and Mark got a falafel pita from Beyond Pita in Montclair.

He loves this pita and was very happy while eating it. Although, he did yell out, “The structural integrity has been compromised,” when it fell apart in his hands. Mark has well maintained fingers and nails. I tell him he could be a hand model. Don’t you agree?

And our non-HFCS drinks.

Back in R.I., I tried my Trader Joe’s Raw Unsalted Crunchy Almond Butter. People told me that once I went Almond, I wouldn’t go back. Now, that’s not true. Peanut butter will always have a special place in my heart, especially Teddie’s, but this Almond Butter is like a little miracle in a jar.

Another weekend over in a flash! Have a great Sunday night and Monday, everyone.

ooh yes, almond butter! Glad you got to try the blueberry z-bar :) and mark does have some nicely groomed fingernails!

  2. VeggieGirl Says:

    A falafel pita??!?!?! Yes, please!!

Whoa, Trader Joe’s makes RAW, UNSALTED, CRUNCHY (my 3 favorite nut-butter qualities!!) Almond Butter?!?!?! I need to get some of that. Now.

The weekend definitely flew by – enjoy your night!!

  3. Erica Says:

I agree, the blueberry bar is only ok! I think the apple is awesome though! mmm whole foods salad, I can’t wait to have another!!

  4. Erin Says:

I agree, Mark does seem to be an exceptionally well-manicured male. Too bad he’s locked out – I love how you say that all nonchalantly. :)
Are those two cute blue purses/clutches (one on your lap, and the other the table where you ate)? Stylin’!
I’m excited to see your wedding pictures!

I have to admit that I’m not a huge fan of almond butter. Peanut will always be my favorite! Have you tried cashew? I’ve wanted to try it, but don’t want to pay the price in case I don’t like it.

Rachel, do you have a Trader Joe’s nearby? This jar was $4.99 there, which is very cheap for Almond Butter? If not, do you have a Whole Foods or other place where you can grind a little bit? If not, I hear Jenny at Barney Butter is pretty liberal with the samples. I’ve not tried Cashew Butter yet, but I am sure it’s fantastic!

  6. Mark Says:

hahah! I don’t manicure! I just believe in proper preventative maintenance!

  7. Jenny Says:

    haha definitely hand model material

I agree about the almond butter. I thought at first that it was my “new” peanut butter, but I quickly came to find that nothing can really take the place of all that peanut buttery goodness. Have a good Monday! :)

Yay! I’m so glad you somewhat liked the blueberry ZBaR. I am very easily pleased :)

Haha, Mark could certainly be a hand model!

I am totally with you on the almond butter — the first time I tried it I didn’t see what all the fuss was about. Now I definitely enjoy it, but PB is always the mainstay. Plus, it’s darn cheaper in most stores!

I’m mad that I still haven’t had the chance to cook anything for the secret ingredient challenge! Keeping my fingers crossed for next week…

Hope you have a good Monday!

i fell in love with almond butter the first time i tried it. but, i can only get salted ones around here which is very annoying…but still, it’s so good!

  10. Heather Says:

hahaha. To clarify, Mark does NOT get manicures.

The blue flower bag is small and my favorite. The blue wallet is something I use as a wallet and clutch.

  11. Foodie (Fab and Delicious Food) Says:

Thanks for the almond butter review! I need to try it one day!

  12. Meghann Says:

I’ve gone almond and I’m not going back :)

  13. Megan Says:

I like both, but I would have to choose PB over almond butter. I just won some Barney Butter on Tina’s site, so maybe I will change my mind.

  14. Mangotriathlete Says:

Yum on the salad – and I’ve got to say, I have a weakness for baked falafel on pita, especially with the shredded veg inside. Has Mark tried sweet potato falafel? That’s great too… :-)
I feel the same as you do about the topping on the z-bars (or whatever kind of bar actually)… too sweet….
