She Says: Almonds All Around
The other day I read that Sabrina (RhodeyGirl) went to the new Great Harvest in Cranston. I had no idea it was coming to Rhode Island, and knew I had to try it out for myself right away. Did you know they give free pieces of bread away? And not in the “Oh, there’s some bread lying on a plate on that table, let me try it.” No, no. They pretty much take your bread sample order and they have out little dips and spreads to use! I tried the High 5 Fiber bread.
It was so delicious! Soft, wheaty goodness. My mom bought a loaf, so I guess the sampling works! She also got this contained of Monastery Creamed Honey in almond flavor. Ingredients: Honey + almond extract. It’s good when it’s soft and a little warm, but it’s very sweet and strong, so you really only need a little tiny bit.
For dinner I wanted to make a stir fry, so I used a bag of Whole Foods Thai Stir Fry vegetables + leftover corn + baked tofu to get started. I wanted to make a new stir fry sauce so I made an Almond Ginger Sauce consisting of:
- Low Sodium Soy Sauce
- Sesame Oil
- Rice Wine Vinegar
- Dijon Mustard
- Ground Ginger
- Red Pepper Flakes
- Almond Butter

HEAVEN! HEAVEN! I love that honey. MMM!
I’ve only used coconut milk to make curry.
Coconut cupcakes are really delicious! Or even a vanilla cupcake with coconut frosting. Yum.
that stir fry looks yummy…i should try mine w/ a nut butter one day instead of just soy sauce!
What a wonderful stir-fry sauce!
I love Great Harvest! Yummy doughiness!
oh my, that looks delish… i’d be it’d be fabulous to make rice pudding! or in a sweet potato soup! oh, baking… banana bread! happy herbivore has a recipe for coconut cupcakes… hmmm, i think i have some in the kitchen too!
I made these couscous cakes a while back and used coconut milk in them – if you search for couscous on my site they should come up
They were awesome, and very healthy.
Great samples and yayy, almond butter!
Creamed almond honey sounds killer!
I love great harvest as well. We used to have one near where I work but unfortunately it closed. I loved their cinnamon bread for baked french toast.
sticky rice
I really miss Great Harvest – they had ‘em when we lived in Minnesota and I’ll never forget their generous samples. That honey with almond sounds great, too!
That stir-fry sounds amazing. I have a big container of almond butter and will definitely be making a similar sauce to yours this week!
isn’t it soooo good? i havent tried the high 5 fiber yet but it’s next on my list. i was so sad that they are closed sundays bc i wanted to take pb!!! and that honey is awesome!
Last year I got a sample of Great Harvest’s pumpkin bread and I swear it was two inches thick. And, of course, amazing.
I have a sample of a coconut energy drink from my race as well! Is it Zico? I don’t like coconut, so I have yet to try it. Maybe baking something with it wouldn’t be so bad though.
runjess: no, it’s vita coco or something like that. I have no desire to drink it, so I figured I should make something with it.
