She Says: Moving on from a Cizerfunk

Cizerfunk is the word I’ve come up with to describe the gross icky feeling one gets when there is an interruption to his or her usual exercise routine. You know you’ve felt it.

I have to tell you I was in a serious cizerfunk today, but your comments really made me feel better. I always look forward to reading comments and today was even better. It sucks to complain, but it’s nice to get some sympathy. :)

Step two of moving on from the cizerfunk was eating well and exercising. I tried to eat lots of veggies today and I squeezed in a quick run, which is better than nothing. In conclusion, my cizerfunk is slowly going away.

For dinner, I had a quick Dr. Prager’s Veggie Burger (microwaved for a minute, toasted for what seems like an eternity) with some Annie’s BBQ Sauce, roasted carrots and salad. I like to add a little extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar as dressing. Today I also added some Dijon mustard.

For dessert, I had one of my Pumpkin Wheat Berry Protein Bars. I took a picture at this odd angle so you could see the texture a bit better.

Has anyone read Clean Eating magazine? I saw it in Barnes & Noble this weekend and really enjoyed it. It has lots of great recipes that include whole foods, which I am trying harder to achieve in my own meals and snacks. I am wondering if anyone thinks its worth the subscription. I get Cooking Light and I love leafing through it, but I find that almost anything I want to make or read again is on the website. Anyone know if this is true with Clean Eating?

I saw that magazine the other day – I was wondering if it was any good. I’ll have to check it out when I’m next at the store!

  5. eatingbender Says:

Cizerfunk is a great new term. I will definitely be using it in the future.

I’m v. happy to hear that you are feeling better. That protein bar looks great.

I’ve never read the magazine before, but am looking forward to hearing what other people think of it.

I’ll check out the new magazine! I can’t stand reading vogue, marie claire, elle anymore. They are just ads and gossips. I prefer Self, yoga journal now. But I need more!!!

I love Clean Eating, and yes, I think its worth it. It used to be a quarterly publication, but starting in December it will be coming out with 6 issues a year.

They have a monthly meal plan you can follow, but it is REALLY repetitive, but some of the ideas are good.

I just like the fact that its REAL food, nothing processed. And for people who don’t know how to cook with real food, this would give anyone a good start.

    Highly recommend!

I’ve never seen or read that magazine, but I feel the exact same way about my Cooking Light subscription. Sometimes I feel like it’s sitting around the house reminding me how much time I don’t have to cook! I’ll have to look for Clean Eating on my next trip to the bookstore.

  9. Jordan Says:

    I’m hungry. You’re not helping =P

  10. Beadie Says:

I wasn’t impressed with clean eating book, too diety but I have heard great things about the magazine. I have also heard eating well is good for whole food type recipes.

  11. gina (fitnessista) Says:

i love clean eating magazine– it’s been a little harder to use since i stopped eating meat, but the recipes are wonderful and i’ve ripped out the recipes from all of my favorite magazines (including that one) and made a cookbook scrapbook out of it.

  12. Erin Says:

I like Clean Eating, but I don’t subscribe to it.
I think your new word is hella cool!

  13. VeggieGirl Says:

Love the “cizerfunk” term, haha – glad it’s slowing going away though!! Hooray!! :-)

    Those protein bars sound delish.

I READ CLEAN EATING MAGAZINE!!!!!!! Love it.

  14. Rose Says:

I’m not sure if Clean Eating doubles up on their website, but I will say that the mag is worth purchasing. I picked it up a few weeks ago and really enjoyed it.

  15. rhodeygirl Says:

i think the mag itself is worth it, IF you are eating meat. they post a few select recipes on their website each month as far as i’ve seen, but maybe with the new concept they will be posting them all? I personally prefer eatingwell and the volumetrics recipes as well as the superfoods ones. I can let you borrow those two books if you want?

  16. Juliet Says:

Hah! I love the word but *totally* hate the feeling. Citzerfunk! It is worse when you can’t exercise because you are sick.. :)

  17. BeeElle Says:

Ha! Hilarious! I love it – I’ve definitely been in a cizerfunk before, even though I don’t typically work out everyday, I do get to it four times a week or so. So if I go more than a couple days I get crabby and sluggish. I haven’t checked out that magazine – I read Fitness, Runner’s World, and Self. Though all my subscriptions will be up soon and I can’t afford to renew them so I’m not sure what I will do!!!

  18. Kelly Says:

I love that word. So funny It took me a minute to figure out how to pronounce it and then I got it. Sadly my cizerfunk has kind of taken over. :-( I’ve really been struggling to get back on the horse. I still work out a few times a week, but not with the consistency and vigor of what I used to.

  19. Lindsay Says:

wow – that wasabi sauce looks amazing, im definitely keeping my eye out for that stuff :)
