She Says: Very Sleepy Blogger
Well, here is a little window into my Friday night. I went to bed at 8:30 and woke up at 7:00. What a bore! I hope I am not always this tired on Fridays when I am a real teacher. I mean driving home from school at 4:00 on Friday, I felt like it was midnight. I was draggy and couldn’t even do my yoga. I hope I am not getting the strep that’s racing around school.
Before I went to sleep I had some leftover lentil soup and a wrap. I like the lentil soup even more as leftovers because it thickens up. Mom, give us the recipe!
I also had some of this …
It’s hiding … from me. Begging, actually, not to be eaten in one day!
This morning, I was still kinda tried, which is not a good sign. I added 5.2 more miles to the Pile On the Miles Challenge and had breakfst consisting of Greek Yogurt, above featured cereal and peanut butter. It was big and filling.
I have Thanksgiving cooking on the brain! I saw Rachel Ray make this stuffing with pumpkin muffins and I want it!
Back to Basics Month
It’s ova! Well, for me, I will be trying to continue my focus on eating more food, less food-like substances. Here were the highlights:
- All dinners at a table sans computer. This is such a better experience.
- No splenda or similar products. I now use honey, Sun Chrystals or nothing.
- Less bars. I convinced myself I needed a bar as an after school snack. This is just not true. I live Z-bars, Kardea bars, Pro-bars, Odwalla bars, gnu bars, etc., but not I eat them as a special snack and not a daily part of my eats.
- Less crackers. This is a big one for me as I am quite the snacker – a handful of crackers here, some pretzels there. It’s just not necessary.

Ut oh… I have some unfortunate news for my Bestie. When you become a full time teacher you are just as tired on Friday nights. I get home around 5, go to yoga at 6 (not going is not an option) fall asleep during savasana, come home, and fall asleep watching What Not To Wear. This has been my Friday schedule for years. Sad, sad, sad…

I wish I could tell you that you won’t be that tired… but I go to bed by about 9:30 most fridays!! I’m generally pretty exhausted, but my job is amazing!

I would love the lentil recipe. Mine is too thick.

I hope you aren’t getting sick! Don’t worry, I stayed home last night too and went to bed early. It’s a nice change!

Not a bore at all – that sounds like a wonderful night. I went to be around 12:30 last night and just got up now (around 10:15). It was pretty glorious. We could all use more sleep.

Great post!
I am trying to cut back on eating crackers too! Having bars are not such a big problem for me, even though I have a bulk box of Think Protein bars in the pantry, for some reason, I don’t find myself resorting to bars, but instead munching on crackers!

i am also guilty for eating in from on the computer screen!! it’s terrible, but i just don’t care.
i used to have a bar addiction too! i hope you can fight it!! haha i would honestly eat 3 or 4 a day.

I am always totally exhausted on Fridays! I made it until 11:30 though, which is pretty good! Josh and I were talking this morning how 11 pm to us now feels like what 4 am felt like in college hahah.

Heather,
It took me about half of this semester as a new teacher to not be exhausted & sleep almost all evening and night on Fridays ( + most of the afternoon on Saturdays) but it’s gotten a lot better.
Is the grade level you’re student teaching right now the one you think you’d like to teach or are you thinking of going for a diff one when you’re done?

Thank you so much for your sweet comments! I re-read them all the time because they lift me up so much. I’m sorry you had such a tiring Friday…maybe the week’s just catching up to you and you’re not getting sick! You’ll probably feel like a new woman by the end of the weekend, just in time to do it again! Have a good one!

What are Sun Chrystals? I am always on the hunt for new all natural sweeteners. I can’t believe I’ve never heard of them before.
November 22nd, 2008 at 10:05 pm
i think you made some great improvements!! i would love to be able to ‘quit’ cereal and granola, but i cant really think of something id like to replace it with.
November 22nd, 2008 at 11:00 pm
Wow – sitting down to eat dinner or meals, I am so bad about that!
And I’m working on easing out of Splenda…oh dear…..

No dinner with computers is a big one for me!

The risotto was not difficult. It just needed a little more attention than most things I make. I highly recommend it, especially if you like cheesy starchy things like I do.
November 23rd, 2008 at 1:06 am

can’t wait to see what you two decide for the next challenge
