She Says: More Snow and More Cookies.
I am glad you liked my silver Christmas Tree I posted yesterday. It is from the dollar bin at Target. Mark bought it, and the decorations for it, for me for Chirstmas ‘06. It’s relegated to the treadmill room in my house – my brother’s old bedroom. We have real trees, too.

Clealry, my mother is a Christmas maniac. I mean Christmas enthusiast. This is her “Country Tree.” There is a “Glass Tree,” too in another room. I think if my mom were a trash talker her line would be, “Go big or go home.”
Anyway, it snowed pretty much all day again today, which is the perfect weather for staying in your house and baking Christmas cookies.
Here are some visuals for a couple of the cookies I’ve already told you about this month.

and Pignoli (Pine Nut) Cookies

I made a few things myself, but they are still “in progress.” Stay tuned.
Before baking commenced I got in a great run! I am really going to miss belting out the tunes on the treadmill at my house when I move to Jersey.
6.2 miles in 51 minuts + .8 more miles walking for 9 minutes!
I followed that up with a 20 minute Yoga Download. Power Yoga Vinayasa Flow 3 to be exact.
I also paused during baking to run out to get a few supplies, presents and Whole Foods dinner.

Lots of good things in there including Sesame Broccoli, Eggplant, Mediterranean Tofu, Salsa and Sicilian Cauliflower.
So. This is an odd Christmas break for me. I feel like I am back in college all done for the semester because I just finished student teaching. I am done with school and graduating. Again. It seems like such a long time ago that I was a lawyer, but really, it was only a year and a half ago. It’s like I am restarting my life. I’m looking for a new job, a place to live – everything I did already when I was in law school! Back then I thought I had everything figured out. Boy was I wrong! It feels strange, but I am excited to see what is in store for me!
Well, I need to contine reading Little Women for my book club. Everyone have a great night and Monday.

I love how your mom goes all out for Christmas!
I think it’s great that you are starting over again. I always admire people who have the courage to do what they really want.
I don’t want to whine, but how come everyone has snow but me!

Good luck with your job hunt and house hunt and everything! It sounds like you made the right choice- esp the posts about your kiddies and making stuff for them, that sounds so awesome and rewarding…plus being a teach has GOT to be more interesting/fun/lively than being lawyer

That tree is great! I like that your mom is in the Christmas spirit!
Great cookies – the pine nut ones are especially intriguing.
It always seems to me that I have everything figured out, and then everything is completely different a year later. It is definitely an exciting time for you – yay!

Great tree! I too thought I had everything figured out when I graduated from college. Dream job in my dream city. Two and a half years later and I’m now trying to figure out what I want to do with my life all over again! I think I’ve resigned to the fact it will be a continuous journey for me!

i can kind of relate, although for me it is because of PB. it must be so strange to be this completely different person now…. from overworked lawyer to smiling teacher!
December 22nd, 2008 at 10:17 am
We don’t go all out ENOUGH for Christmas. We don’t even have Christmas lights outside! In defense of it though, we took to long to put them up and now it’s just too darn cold outside all the time to bother. I know, terrible excuse right? Haha
I might have to make those butter balls. YUM.
