He Says: Hulk Want Freddie Prinze, Jr.
Getting used to my current cooking environment is taking some time. A new layout, new pans, and new heat are all adding up to what is sometimes a very frustrating kitchen experience. Still, I get by. Like this morning when I made myself Mootzadell, gli spinacci and Egg on a Fajita Style Tortilla Wrap. Despite my lack of recent exercise I’ve still got enough wind to say that in one go and have energy to eat the sangwich.
Here, I contemplate putting a little Pam on the already non-stick frying pan. This isn’t the first time I’ve made eggs on this pan and been disappointed by its less than stellar advertised performance. Needless to say, I’m not finding the cheap non-stick surface very… non stick. A little Pam did help but I should have just gone all out and lubed that sucker up without hesitation.
Unless!
Unless you, the HangryPantaloon, tell me otherwise; maybe the reaction of the Pam with the Supa Slick Surface will cause an inter-dimensional slip space worm hole causing life as we know it to cease existence! Or, maybe it just causes the surface to chip? Let a mister know!

2 large eggs (courtesy of Trade Joe’s in Paramus) are frying. I broke the yolks knowing pulling it away from the pan ain’t going to be easy relying only on this Target acquired 7.0 United States Dollar pan.

The landing pad is prepped with soft materials to ensure safety in case of emergency tortilla bound exit. Swim vest unter dem sitz!.

The final result after Heather expertly folded the ingredients together. I refrained from showing you what the pan looked like after pulling the egg from it. Not terribly bad, but not no where near the perfection I am accustomed to. Nay, the perfection I demand.

Heather made me a giant hobo-sack of food for the day so I don’t going buying any snacks or cafe food and we save many during Budget Month. I’m steadily eating my way to the other side of it. So far:
- Jones Root Beer
- Whole carrots, half chopped
- Salsa + yogurt [?] dip
- Little bag of Archer Farms Blue Tortilla chips
- Medium Banannananaanana
- Small Apple
- Trader Joe’s Black Cherry Nonfat Yogurt
- Foil wrapped (unopened sandwich looking thing)
I added:
- 1 Trader Joes Fruit and Nut Bar
- 1 Cup Flavia Coffee Colombia
- 1 Cup Iced DD home brewed coffee
- Vitamin water, Revive, 12 oz
I like eating all day instead of turning gray, ripping out of my purple pants and going on a rampage for Freddie Prinze Jr. in a rage of Hangriness.
Catch me if you can.

I always use Pam… mostly because I hate cleaning cooked egg off the pan!

Wow – Heather packed you quite a lunch! I don’t have much advice for the non-stick pan. Haven’t had much luck with those either. I try to use my cast iron skillet as much as possible, and its well seasoned. Nothing sticks to that thing.
Your mootzadell, gli spinacci and egg wrap sounds excellent. I have no idea how to pronounce most of it, but it looks good!

I use Spectrum Organics, which is similar to Pam

You can get better for the environment and nonstick CAST IRON skillets for maybe $10 by Lodge Logic. Check them out. It will take a while to season your pan so that its truly nonstick but until you get a well seasoned pan you can still use your spray PAM.
I loove cast iron and will never ever buy another nonstick pan. Plus, if you care for it properly, your cast iron will outlive you.

Heather sure packed you some yummy stuff!

Mark, My mom says you cannot spray a non-stick pan and she knows these things. Let’s put a little EVOO in a spray bottle from the dollar store. That will work.
Also, you have a cast iron skillet!!!!!!
Also, it was salsa and yogurt. You made it, remember?
I think you need to work on brain age again to improve your memory.

Banannananaanana= hahahahhaa. i love packing lunches, especially for other people. do you think it’s not “guy-ish” enough to pack my boyfriend’s lunch in a reusable lunch bag? have a great day!

Your egg wrap looks good!
Heather sure did pack you a good lunch.

I love that you said sangwich! One of my friends calls them that, too.
Yeah, I think Pam is a no-no on nonstick pans. I found that out too late and now all of my pans are peeling
As far as cast iron goes, you can buy them pre-seasoned (nonstick).

We use Pam on our non-stick pan. It won’t rip a hole in the universe.
January 13th, 2009 at 12:09 pm
You should never use a cooking spray on a non-stick pan . It will ruin the pan. This is what I was told when I worked at Williams-Sonoma.

Nice wrapping skillz! I use Pam on my non-stick and nothing major has happened yet!
January 13th, 2009 at 12:21 pm
Your egg wrap looks awesome! And you are a lucky guy to have Heather pack you such a yummy lunch!
Oh and I’ve used Pam on non-stick for years and nothing had happened to my pans so far.
January 13th, 2009 at 1:00 pm
wow that looks so yummers!

Mark, you’ll learn to love the hobo pack. I make one for Bobby every day. At first he was doubtful, but now his friends are jealous when he pulls out brie and crackers at lunch (the spreadable brie – it’s great), or half of a salmon steak from the night before. If you know the Office, he started his own “Finer things club”, and so far I think he’s the only member… but anyway, the hobo pack is great. Don’t doubt it!!
January 13th, 2009 at 2:35 pm
I DO NOT doubt the hobo pack. It fits my intense (hobo) lifestyle and is saving me lots of money so far!
January 13th, 2009 at 2:39 pm
Yes, he even brings back the aluminum foil for re-use. I am thinking of upgrading him from a Target shopping bag to a real reusable lunch bag one of these days.

(youre up this saturday….just fyi!)
January 13th, 2009 at 3:43 pm
I always use cooking spray.
January 13th, 2009 at 3:59 pm
Looks so tasty… damn I’m hungry.
January 13th, 2009 at 5:10 pm
Even with Pam AND non-stick, my eggs always stick anyway and end up scrambled!! The only time I get a smooth release is if I use a couple teaspoons of actual olive or canola oil. (More calories, but probably healthier, too!)
January 13th, 2009 at 6:30 pm
I use olive oil in a spray bottle on my nonstick pans- I have a “Misto” from BB&B that is made for oils, but it could work in a regular spray bottle too.
Mark, your posts always crack me up!
January 13th, 2009 at 7:25 pm
hahahahahhaa. YOU GUYS ARE SO CUTE! that sando looks delicous.
January 13th, 2009 at 9:23 pm
yeah, you’re not supposed to use pam on nonstick… which seems SO stupid to me, where were the marketing people when this was figured out?? anyways, if you need a recommendation for a nonstick pan i found one that has been the best one i’ve ever used by far! (calphalon everyday pan, 39.99, 10″, glass or stainless lid)
January 14th, 2009 at 1:03 am
Mark,
Would this put you in the right direction?

YOU TWO ARE SO FUNNY! i was dying laughing!
i’ve sprayed my non-stick pans.. nothing bad has happened yet.. but now I know something will!
I pack my BF’s lunch everyday- he not only appreciates it, he even got a reusable lunch bag for himself- in a manly navy blue color of course.
January 14th, 2009 at 2:06 pm
What was the unopened sandwich looking thing??
January 14th, 2009 at 3:00 pm
I just bought some non-stick myself from Calphalon and they definitely say don’t use sprays on non-stick. The best thing I’ve found is you can find a sprayer and fill it with your own pure olive or whatever oil. That’s okay for non-stick. But from what I understand you’re actually making your pan perform worse when you put Pam like stuff on it.

what a hilarious post.
