She Says: Flat Out no Flat Outs.

Morning lovelies. How are you? I had a fairly uneventful Thursday, but it was pleasant and that’s good enough for me!  My title pertains to me strong desire to have the Flat Out Wraps seen blog-wide. Where do you get them? Can they be purchased in N.J.? What is the next best thing? Thanks. They look delicious and I especially like how they seem to wrap easily.

Normally, I don’t show my morning oats, but Thursday  I added something new to me, so I thought I’d share: oats, water, cinnamon, honey, wheat germ and ricotta cheese. Really good!

For lunch I had leftover Pesto Vegetable Soup w/ plain chobani & wheat germ. So glad there is more soup frozen it’s fantastically delicious. I think maybe it’s the parsnip and sweet potatoes that give it a slighly sweet taste? But then the pesto gives it an edge. Mmm.

I also tried this Strawberry Chocolate Chip Keribar, which I got from Melissa for the Holiday Marathon Challenge.

This wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t good either. I would elaborate, but it had really no taste to me. Maybe it was just the flavor. I saw on their website that they have Apple Peanut Butter and Cranberry Almond, so maybe one of those is more flavorful?

What else? I joined a gym! I figured we were safely past the “She’s joing a gym as part of New Year’s Resolution” stage and the people at Mark’s gym finally caught on that I am not a boy with large black curly hair. Oh yeah that was fun. Anyway, yes, I picked a gym in N.J. baed on the following positive features:
(1) it’s close to my house so I could walk or run there when the temperature is above freezing;
(2) has tanning (just kidding, I think that’s true at all gyms in northern N.J.);
(3) has a pool so I could aquasize; and
(4) next to a McDonald’s so when I run I can look out and feel extra virtuous.

No, it’s not the most glamourous gym and I’m pretty sure that the average age of gym goers there is 60, but it’s mine now and so … I love it.

Well anyway, I’ve only run twice since I got to N.J., and one of those times I was at home in R.I., so I really wanted to get back into it today. I ran for 30 minutes (3.25 miles) and walked for 15 more minutes because, let’s be honest, being unemplyed in the winter means I sit. A lot. Then I went to a class! The instructor was 30 minutes late, which was not a good sign.It was BUTT N GUT , but it wasn’t hard at all. I wonder if it’s because the other two ladies in the class were … more mature than me so the instructor took it pretty easy. Today I am not sore at all, but it was time I would have spent sitting on my but, so that’s good.

For dinner I made some couscous w/ melty mozzarella cheese and spinach and some roasted asparagus.

Food Shopping on a Budget News:

I went to Stop & Shop today to get 10 more Chobanis for $10 because the new sales start tomorrow and who knows what will happen. I think that was a good use of $10. Total for week 2 adjusted to $99.25.  Eeek?!?!

    Hey! I did water aerobics once in Woonsocket. Picture it, Sicily, 1944… :)

    No, I mean, picture it… me in the pool at 8AM on a Thursday (no school for a Jewish holiday) with NO LESS than 40 grandmas, one or two grandpas (they never live as long) and the instructor. As I walked to the pool in my flip flops and tankini all aforementioned grandmas stare me down wondering (I’m sure) who’s the new girl, why isn’t she over 65, and why is she showing us her belly (only ever so slightly I swear). As I submerged in a heavily populated section (the whole pool was full!) the grandmas scattered as I neared, then one came up to me and said this is where they usually stand!!!!! Ok… I didn’t move… no where to go. After a few minutes of staring and whispering one came up to me and proceeded to ask me about 5,000 personal questions. Finally class started and the instructor proceeded to KICK MY BUTT with super intense aerobicizing!!!!! Needless to say that was the last time I went.

    How exciting that you joined a gym :) I hope it’s a good match for you! Sounds like it has some perks, namely the location being close to your house!
    Happy Weekend!

    I’m coming here from MizFit-land…

    Very cool about the gym – close is good! I wish we had something closer for us. Since we don’t I have a gym setup in our basement, and that works well (when I use it! I should be there now!).

    Anyway, very nice site you have!

  4. Hi! Visiting from MizFit, congrats on joining the gym. It’s a lot of fun. :) I like your blog, will be back to visit again soon!!!

  6. Hi Heather. We get our Flat Outs from Costco. If you can’t find any, email me with your address, and I’ll send you some – seriously, you must try them! So good.

    Congrats on joining your gym. Love the McD’s proximity – hilarious! I hope you enjoy an abundance of running and some fun classes… with prompt instructors. :)

    10 Chobanis for $10? CANNOT beat that. Happy weekend!

    My flat outs are found in two different spots – depending on the store –

    At an end cap of the bread aisle and then on the shelf below the deli where all the buns are – god luck!

    Yep, you could not have passed on the 10 for 10! I wish they had that by me!!

    I ended up buying 1/4 pound of shrimp and a filet mignon for Tony (50% off in the meat clearance!) so I went over my $100 budget by $6.50 cents – not too bad!

    Happy Weekend!

    I have found Flat Outs at CostCo (a 3-pack for cheap!) and at my regular grocery store in the deli section, which is definitely sneaky.

    they have flat outs at the wizzle here (aka wal mart)
    did you join the gym that has zumba?!?

    Another Bumbling Band member here to check out Hangry Pants…like what I see!

    As others have mentioned, we usually find the Flat-outs in the deli section. They have kind of a sweet taste to me. I prefer them toasted or as a pizza crust (toast a little before putting on the toppings).

    I know right?! Why are so many good products not found in New England…I want some flat outs too!

    I am seriously loving the Chobani sales at S&S!!

    Yay for joining a gym!! My gym isnt that great too…but I get my exersize so I guess its working :)
