She Says: No Salt on the Glass. No Salt in the Nuts.
Some fun things are going on these days. Let me tell you about a few of them.
I enjoyed an open faced Peanut Butter sandwich today on Pepperidge Farm 9 Grain Bread. I’ve now tried all the Pepperidge Farm samples, so my full review is on its way. Do you have any questions about the bread you want answered?

Now the sandwich. While I enjoyed it because I love bread, I did not love it. You see, as a compromise with Mark, who asked for Skippy, I bought natural peanut butter with added salt.Everyone, it tastes like salt. I don’t understand this. How come people love this? Please explain this phenomenon. No salt is the way to go. I urge you to try it. Your tongue will appreciate it. I am not compromising with Mark anymore.

Moving on …
You’ve heard of This is Why You’re Fat? In case you haven’t, it’s a website filled with pictures of disgusting fatty food pictures that might make you vomit in your mouth a little if you’ve recently eaten. Well, there is a new “This is Why” in town and this time, it’s all about being think. Check it: This is Why You’re Thin. You can send in pictures of the nice, healthy things you eat or the active things you do to stay fit. I submitted my Lentil Stuffed Zucchini and am featured. Yay.
What else? Oh, yes. Mark and I are joining Leng and gang in the Salad Challenge. Saturday April 11th is the last day to sign up. All it entails is eating a salad once a day for two weeks. I like salad!

I want them allllll…
Safe Pistachios – Everybody’s Nuts
Have a nice Friday night!

That “this is why you’re fat” website makes me nauseated! This is why you’re thin sounds awesome though…I love the pretty fruit & veg food porn.
So glad that your zucchini dish was featured!!
Wow! So much fun stuff in this post! Have a great weekend!
Oh I like this contra-website! hahah I should submit something
yay! more Salad eaters!
I like the new website! I saw that “this is why you’re fat” one a while back and really…almost threw up. so glad there’s a counter one!
I think I may sign up for the salad challenge too! woohoo!
So cool about your featured zucchini recipe!
so many good links!!!
Glad you’re joining to the salad challenge!
About the bread…could you please include the bread slice’s dimensions and firmness in your review? My ideal bread slice would be big (4-5″ on each side) and dense (like several quarters could sit on it without leaving an indentation
). My homemade bread can fulfill these criteria, but it’s hard to find a store-bought bread that does. Thanks!
Katie: Sure! I agree that homemade bread is dense in a way that store breads rarely are. If you like dense breads you might want to use Exekial English Muffins. They are a little expensive, but delicious, doughy and sturdy.
Oh wow, totally love the links!
And delicious eats!
Congrats on being featured. I’ll definitely have to check out that blog.
Also…to Katie: If you want dense bread, I’d recommend Great Harvest Bakery bread. Very good and very dense. Breadsmith is also a good place.
Thanks for the links to the giveaways. Makes life easier.
Good call on the Great Harvest!!!!
i agree with you on the skippy- i can’t believe how salty it tastes to me now!
Ooooh FINALLY a rebel – this is why you’re thin!? PERFECT. This is why you’re fat was TOTALLY grossing me out too much. Congrats on being featured!!!! Now I DEFINITELy have to go check it out!!
Wow, how did you get hooked up with all those pepperidge farm products?!?! Mmmm too much bread in my house spells disaster….heheheh
You know I am in on that salad challenge. I’m in training mode now. Love that roughage. I am curious as to how Mr. Mark is going to do…
Congrats on the feature. I’m featured on the “This is Why You are Tired” blog, with pictures of me on my laptop reading your blog at all hours of the night. Thanks a lot.
i admit to eating salted nut butters – i have seen one brand of unsalted around in the uk though, and have used it in baked goods before. there is also a grind your own in the wholefoods in london, unsalted… in honour of you that will be next up on the list! thanks for that website – i know the other “why you’re fat” one and glad to see the opposite one!
i actually really prefer my nut butters with salt — the ones i like are just that — salt + nuts, no other additives. examples are the whole foods store brand, trader joe’s, and smuckers. i confess that in general, i LOVE salt even though my blood pressure doesn’t (arghgh).
as for your anthropologie question on my blog — actually it is in a mall, BUT it’s in an outdoor part that is more like freestanding stores. as in, you park in a mall parking lot, but part of this mall is a ‘promenade’-type thing that is designed to look more like a city street and is outside with freestanding shops. that is where the anthro will be (the urban outfitters is in that area as well — makes sense as i can’t imagine them in a mall either!)
congrats on being featured! your dish sounds amazing. I’ve got to go check it out.
I’ve seen that “This is why you’re fat” website, and it pretty much both intrigued and grossed me out!
and I have to disagree with you on the salt in nut butter. I like my nut butter made from salted, roasted nuts. I’d miss the salt without it! to each their own, I guess.
There’s salted nut butters and then there’s SALTED nut butters! Some jars can definitely over load in the sodium department!
I think there is room for 2 pbs in the house
Next time I’m in NYC, we should definitely meet up!!
Sorry. I’m with Mark. I love natural PB, but only if there’s salt. I don’t think the Smucker’s natural tastes too salty, but maybe that’s just me.
Conrats on the feature! I’m so glad that you’re also enjoying GOTR. It’s such a simple concept and our girls seem to have a great time. Running with my lil Miriam was fun…I truly think that it’s almost about confidence and believing you can be a runner. I think she’ll get there!
How’s the job hunt going? Any possible full-time positions for next year?
Kaneil, balanceisbest
I’m def with you on the no salt in the pb…always the better way to go!
Yay Office Space!
Hmmm… I think my next jar of PB I’ll have to try no salt.
My boyfriend has an odd obsession with This Is Why You’re Fat. I still haven’t figured it out… But congrats on being featured on the “good” side.
Agreed, I prefer my nut butters unsalted. That bread looks delicious! And I like the concept of both the salad challenge and the “this is why you’re thin” site.
Haha, I totally agree with you on the nut butter. I’m trying to convert Bobby so that I don’t have to deal with it
He’s pretty stubborn when it comes to food, so we might end up with two jars.
Congrats on getting featured – that seems like such a great idea for a Web site! And I’m part of the “gang” on the Salad Challenge – I just stocked up on veggies and proteins today! I can’t wait – I love salad, too!
Thanks for linking to all those giveaways!
Cool links Heather… thanks for sharing.
zesty
Congrats on being featured on that website! Enjoy your Easter!
Wow – lots of giveaways going on – I’m so behind! Totally with you on the unsalted peanut butter. I had a bit of salted peanut butter the other day – ewww. I love it plain AND crunchy.
Thanks for the link to This Is Why You’re thin, and how cool your recipe was featured. You’re famous Heath!
Salad Challenge – I’m all over that.
Have a wonderful day.
Love, The other Heath
