She Says: Vegan Cookbook Giveaway
Now is your chance to win PETA’s Vegan College Cookbook: 250 Easy, Cheap, and Delicious Recipes to Keep You Vegan at School.
From the publisher:
“ Chock-full of vegan recipes that don’t require mad cooking skills, much less a stove, PETA’s Vegan College Cookbook: 275 Easy, Cheap, and Delicious Recipes to Keep You Vegan at School is guaranteed to help even the most culinary-impaired students whip up delicious breakfast, lunch, and dinner dishes, desserts, dips, sauces, drinks, dressings, sandwiches, salads, soups, and snacks. Written in a clever, upbeat style, recipes include Butt Ugly Sticky Buns, Hangover Helper, Tofu or Not Tofu-That Is the Sandwich, WTF Wings?, Frozen Frat Balls, Late Night at the Liberry Soy Smoothie, and many more. And the best part is that the most complicated kitchenware you’ll ever need is a microwave!”
I received a copy of the book and so far, it’s pretty cool! It has lots of ideas for quick, easy recipes that don’t require a ton of obscure ingredients. I’ve made the Bad-Ass Balsamic Vinaigrette Dressing and the Black Bean and Corn Salad (Salsa Remix) and both recipes were quick and easy.
Also, there is a whole chapter devoted to Peanut Butter!!!!
So, you might not be a “vegan” and think this cookbook isn’t for you, but I love my yogurt and I’m not a vegan either. According to this cookbook, vegan eating is simply not eating things that came from someone with a pulse. I bet you eat vegan a lot of the time and don’t even know it!
For a chance to win,
(1) Leave a Comment telling us your favorite vegan recipe
(2) For a second chance to win, leave a Second Comment telling us your favorite moment from the original Beverly Hills, 90210.
So, if you’re a U.S. resident, get commenting! The contest ends Wednesday, April 29th at 11:59 p.m. EST.

April 27th, 2009 at 12:22 pm
I illegally watched 90210 growing up (I was supposed to be in bed, but would sneak downstairs and watch it with my older sisters). I loved when Tiffany Amber Thiessen came to town and totally rocked the boat.
She was such a lil biatch, but I still love her b/c she’s Kelly Kapowski.

April 27th, 2009 at 12:45 pm
I agree that you don’t have to be vegan to appreciate vegan recipes. I have to say I have made so many amazing vegan recipes. The sweet pea ravioli I made recently though were probably my favorite.
As far as 90210 goes, what’s sad is I watched it a lot as a kid and yet cannot really remember the episodes despite being a diehard fan. I do remember liking the first one a lot though because Brandon and Brenda were from Minnesota and that’s where I grew up.
April 27th, 2009 at 12:49 pm

The whole Robert Plant-style “breaking up is hard to do” with Brenda, Kelly, Donna, and Emily Valentine
April 27th, 2009 at 12:57 pm
I’m by no means a vegan but my favorite recipe that is vegan BY CHANCE is probably lettuce wrap-ups! (Pretty lame right? I’m a college student! Forgive me! This is why I need this cook book!) It’s basically just black beans, salsa, cucumbers, carrots and garbanzo beans all wrapped up in big leafs of lettuce!
April 27th, 2009 at 12:57 pm

April 27th, 2009 at 12:59 pm
I love that 90210 is the basis for an entry!
This is going to sound really strange, but my favorite moment is when David comes to Donna’s rescue when she’s about to be raped. I love that he knew she was in trouble because she called him “Dave.” Not like it was a secret, but that’s when I knew they were meant to be.

April 27th, 2009 at 1:56 pm
Not technically sure if this qualifies as vegan, but I made pumpkin muffins from a boxed Pilsbury mix the other day. I used soy milk and subsituted mashed bananas for the eggs and oil the recipe called for. They turned out really moist and good!
April 27th, 2009 at 1:57 pm
Comment #2- My favorite 90210 moment was when Brenda and Dylan broke up. Brenda was depressed in her room and kept playing “Losing My Religion” over and over.
April 27th, 2009 at 2:03 pm
I make an unbelievable vegan chili in a crock pot (my own recipe available upon request) and my morning oats are always vegan. I try to have 10 vegan meals a week.
April 27th, 2009 at 2:05 pm
Not really a favorite but those I remember – when Brenda really screwed up her hair color after her mother told her nto to dye her hair and when Brendan tried to get the homeless guy a job at the Beach Club and learned a “lesson”
April 27th, 2009 at 2:05 pm

Wow I really want to win this one! I don’t have a favorite vegan recipe or food, because I don’t know enough about it. I am actually a grad school student and have recently become very intrigued by vegetarian, flexitarian, and vegan lifestyles. Currently I try to incorporate 1-2 no meat days a week. I am sometimes in a rut about those days because I rely on the same types of foods. This cookbook would be a great source to have!

Also, as far as 90210 goes, I don’t have a favorite moment. I was still young when the show came into its prime. Occasionally I’ll catch it on soap net thought.
Now dawson’s creek is something I could write about forever!!

I was a die hard 90210 fan and have already been given Seasons 1 an 2 on DVD, but the one episode that really sticks out it when this guy “Dick” ODs and dies in the bathroom of the peach pit after dark. Steve kept saying “dick’s dead, dick’s dead”. then they have a candle light vigil outside of the peach pit after dark for him.

I love 90210! I have to say, as cheesy as this is, I really loved it when Donna and David finally got married at the end. I also love how the show always brought up socially relevant topics (drug use, racism, rape, etc.) it was cutting edge for its time.
