She Says: Believe the Hype

Good morning everyone!

For your reading pleasure, I created a new Favorite Posts Page for new readers to catch up and learn more about Hangry Pants and for old readers to be reminded of our awesomeness. I also updated my Recipes, and guess what? I bake a lot. And if you need a little live Hangry action, check out the Videos page.

Alright, now I am still having server issues, so I apologize for that. Mark has explained what is going on several times. My anology is that it’s like Hangry Pants is on Lost. Right now it’s in the past and in the present. Existing in two places in time means things (posts, pictures, comments, etc.) can get lost along the way. We are Mark is working on it!

Until then, please accept this picture of my breakfast from yesterday as representative of both today and yesterday. In the bowl is:

  • Plain Yogurt
  • Greek Yogurt (plain)
  • 1 T peanut butter
  • 1/4 C Oats
  • Flax

All of that was left overnight in the fridge and then in the morning I topped it with some cereal. It’s completely delicious and filling!

So, as I alluded to yesterday I got a Veggie Girl package ….

First, let’s establish that she is pretty much a professional baked goods shipper.

Second, let’s establish that Veggie Girl is really an awesome baker. Stare in awe at Banana Caramel Bread.

Some things that do not translate via pictures. First, this loaf is gigantic and extremely moist!  Seocond, it might look like ordinary Banana Bread, but it is hands down the BEST I’ve ever had.

I give it five stars!

It’s based on a recipe from Veganomicon. You can see a similar loaf with Veggie Girl’s recipe here.  It is so moist and delicious. It is perfectly cooked all the way through. The hints of caramel in there are awesome! I love it and vow to only make Veganomicon Bananan Bread from now until forever!

We had it for dinner last night. Mark has eaten half the loaf. I’ve eaten what can only be considered an embarassing amount.  Mark had it again with peanut butter for breakfast. Thank you so much Liz!

In other news, I am going to my first Mets game tonight!

I am neither friend nor foe of the Met’s, but they have a new stadium and we’re going with lots of friends, so it should be fun! What is your favorite thing to eat at a baseball game?

  6. Run Sarah Says:

The loaf looks awesome! I’ve never been to a baseball game before.

  7. Rose Says:

Veggie Girl kills me with her baking skills. I am about to make her start up her own bakery just so I can keep her in business :)

  8. K Says:

Haha I love how you compared Hangry Pants to Lost! YUM to VG’s bread!! That looks fantastic!

Hope you have fun at the ball game!

  9. Natalie D Says:

Enjoy the Mets game – there are booths there w/ vegetarian stuff. I’ve never found them but you can eat semi healthy at some ball parks. And I’m pretty sure Shea had the veggie stuff so the new one should too! Breads look good!

  10. Mara @ What's For Dinner? Says:

I LOVE VG and her baking!!!

Bestie: She hasn’t posted the recipe for this specific loaf, but that one is the same banana bread base. I will let you know if she does post it! It’s sooooooo good!

  13. Olga Says:

o0o that loaf looks great! have fun at the game!

  14. Jess Says:

Have fun at the game! ONE of us is a huge Mets fan, the other (read: me) is a huge Pirates fan. (Yeah my life is sad, I know!!) Have a blast at the game!!

I either get a grilled chicken sammie, a hot dog (ketchup, mustard, onions…mmm good breath), or giant piece of pizza! Depends on my mood and how healthy I ate that day!!

  15. lora Says:

plain hotdog and an ice cream sundae in a baseball hat!

  16. Courtney (The Hungry Yogini) Says:

She is such a sweetheart. That bread is drool-worthy! YUM!

  17. Dori Says:

I am more jealous of that bread than I have been of almost anything else in my life. No joke!

  18. Katie Says:

That bread looks amazing! She is so creative… no VG recipe has ever let me down.

Have fun at the Mets game! Ari gave me a Lo Duca shirt in Queens and got yelled at by several people.

  19. Michelle @ Find Your Balance Says:

Yay Lost fan! At baseball games I always have a sausage. I mean, I never eat sausage but at Fenway Park it’s either that or a hot dog and the sausages smell WAAAAY better :-)

  20. ttfn300 Says:

oh my gosh, banana caramel bread??? YUM :)

  21. Gena Says:

VG is a baking genius! that looks amazing.

  22. Kaneil, Balance is Best Says:

mouth watering, much? yummmy!!! I’m jealous!

I went to a Rockies game last weekend and wanted sunflower seeds, but they were out! So, we shared a bag of boiled peanuts and I had 1/2 of a hot dog…so bad, but so good! :)

    Have fun at the game!

    Kaneil, balanceisbest

  23. Erica Says:

I love the analogy using Lost hahahah. It was good last night. I’m super sad next week is the season finale. Veggiegirl is SUCH an amazing baker- I want to try this bread!! Have fun at the Mets game tonight. Hmm favorite food at a baseball game…I can only pick one? Soft serve ice cream!! Swirl of course.

Thanks for your comment on my “note”. Their ability to eat blows me out of the water! Some nights (especially after a huge workout)- Josh probably eats 4x’s as much as me haha.

  24. Mike Says:

Big Mets fan here! I heard Citi Field has crazy selections of food, not your traditional ball park menu. If I had to pick one, I would go old school with a hotdog.

  25. Melissa (fitnessnyc) Says:

I need to get on the overnight oats bandwagon. I suspected you might have had a visit from the VG Fairy! yum.

@ games, I like to get a pretzel slathered in mustard and relish the carb salt overload.

  26. Jenny Says:

Wow, that bread looks seriously delicious, can’t go wrong with Veggie Girl’s recipes!

I love baseball games! I’m definitely a beer and peanuts girl, and if it’s mealtime, I might eat a hotdog :)

  27. Sarah (lovINmytummy) Says:

Kettle Corn!!! Only in our house, Gracie (and I) are so obsessed with it, with have to call it “ettle-kay orn-kay” to prevent a riot at the very mention.

  28. Kelly Says:

All that server stuff goes completely over my head. I love nachoes or a good old fashionned brat.

  29. Biz Says:

I am a huge baseball fan, we go to at least 6 games a year (more when we lived closer!) :D

There is nothing like a ball park hot dog – the bun is steamed – something to behold!

And we always get a bag of peanuts and throw the shells on the ground!

    Have fun!

  30. Erin Says:

Um beer. I can’t tolerate baseball, so the more I drink, the better it goes.

    That bread looks zoh good!

  31. Emily Says:

    Mmm…banana bread. :)

At baseball games, I love the big doughy pretzels without salt and covered in mustard. They’re not the best nutritionally speaking, but they’re so tasty!

  32. Rachel Says:

Caramel banana bread! Holy yum! :)

When I was younger we always used to get a big bag of spicy peanuts from a guy outside the ballpark (Coors Field in Denver, where I lived until I was 13). I have no idea how they were roasted or how they got spicy inside since they weren’t shelled, but it became a tradition. Now, I think I’d have a pint or two!

  33. Emily Says:

YAY for free baked goods! YUM! And I love all of the pink dishes!

    Ice Cream all the way!

  34. Runeatrepeat Says:

Is that a piggy bowl? Love it.

  35. Marianne Says:

Looks like I’m not the only one looking for some good game day eats, but mine are for hockey watching, not baseball. Although I have never been to a baseball game, I would think the proverbial hot dog is always a good choice :)

And caramel banana bread? Yes please!

Fenway Frank!!!! For some reason those damn steamed hot dogs taste better than anything when your there! I also usually can convince brian to split a soft serve with me, twist…or sometimes I’ll just have my own :)

That banana bread looks INCREDIBLE! I am super jealous!

  38. Lauren Says:

Mmmm banana caramel bread sounds outrageously good!

My fiance would be super jealous if he knew you were going to the Mets game – he is a HUGE fan (we even have 2 stadium seats from Shea).

I bring snacks with me to sporting events – but I have to sneak them in b/c security usually looks in bags.

  39. Ashley Says:

Ohh delicious! I love the sound of caramel combined with banana bread.

  40. Melissa S. Says:

what delish bread! i wish i had me some of that! bet it would rock w/ pb too!!!

  41. eatingbender Says:

I love that you compared Hangry Pants to Lost :)

Banana Caramel Bread from VeggieGirl?! You are one lucky HangryPair! That is amazing.

Favorite thing to eat at a baseball game: hot dogs! Mmm nothing like pork parts with a white bread bun and HFCS ketchup. Seriously.
