She Says: Day 30 – Break The Habit Challenge
Just a quick mid-day note to let you know that I DID IT! Today marks 30 days that I have not bitten my nails!
Here is a visual recap for ya’ll.
Day 1: The nails of a small boy.
Week 2: The nails of a crazed lunatic.
Week 3: The nails of just a regular lunatic.
Week 4: The Nails of a Housewife of the Jerz?
Probably not, but I think we can all agree it is a vast improvement.
Can you believe it? It hasn’t been that hard. I just simply did not bite them. Admittedly, I still need to work on not putting my fingers in/near my mouth. Out of habit/nervousness, I still kind of put my nail in my mouth, which is still gross, but it’s progress. Now, I guess I deserve that manicure!
Did you break a habit this month?
Thanks for the good luck wishes on my interview. It’s at 4:00, so I will channel my inner Oprah (that’s when Oprah is on here) and rock it!

GREAT job! they look awesome.
I somehow started biting mine again, just this week? I think just the restlessness/exhaustion after my trip and a mini breakdown on Monday gave me a bit of stress. It doesn’t happen very often anymore, but it still does on occasion.
your nails look great, and you’ll rock that interview!
Good job Heather!!!! I definitely think you deserve a manicure. I have really cut back on the mindless snacking this month, so thanks for proposing the bad habit challenge!
your nails look so fab!!! very good, heather. bravo!
i never gave anything up, but i really should. my bad habits are endless… sad. thing.
good luck on your interview girl!! lots of good vibes coming your way
Wow, congrats! Your nails look awesome. You totally deserve that manicure
You definitely deserve a manicure!!! Enjoy it!!!
That is awesome – they look great, definitely manicure worthy!
Awesome job!!! Your nails look great! You definintely deserve a manicure! Man I wish it was that easy for me to break that habit.
Good Luck with the interview!!!
woohoo! awesome job!! you deserve a manicure AND a pedicure! you work those feet hard!
Awesome!!! Habits are so hard to break! Good for you!!
good luck today!
Look at your progress! Awesome job – I used to be a HUGE nail biter, got acrylic nails to combat the biting and had them for about 10 years, then finally last June got them taken off and vowed to never bite. I’ve been getting regular manicures ever since.
For your 30 day challenge I pledged to myself that I would stop cracking my knuckles. It is nasty, loud and annoys the crap out of my husband, friends, coworkers – basically anyone within 100 feet of me. I have had a few slip ups, but for the most part I’ve stopped – and the urge is almost gone – not quite though.
Good job on your challenge! Maybe I should challenge my boyfriend to do the same thing
love the nails, great job! GOOD LUCK TODAY!
congratulations!!! You did it!!! You’re amazing! Break an habit in just 30 days, that’s really admirable!
Nice! you could be a hand model.
CONGRATS!! They look great!
congrats on not biting your nails! i have had that same habit for as long as i can remember, and it’s a tough one to break. i did this challenge with you and was successful as well! i’m very excited about it, but i still do put my nails by my mouth too and pick at them. baby steps i guess… i’ve had to cut them a few times already. i had no idea my nails grew so fast!
huge difference! YAY!
First, wishing you belated luck on the interview!! Second, awesome job on the nail biting! Sometimes breaking habits IS just as easy as simply stopping. I think we psych ourselves out by thinking we’re too dependent on our habits when we’re not!
FABULOUS JOB!!! That is such a great accomplishment =)
Hi there! I’m liking your 30-day programs, whether it is to go meatless or to stop biting your nails. I’ve always employed a 3-day rule. If I can do or stop doing something for 3 days straight, then it won’t become a habit. It normally works with whatever I’m attempting, but the new behavior doesn’t last long. I’ll try 30 days…that seems scary though.
And before I forget…good luck on your upcoming Brooklyn Half! I kick-off my first race of the year that same weekend at the Ottawa Half.
Yay for breaking habits!
Your nails look terrific!!!! I have been doing well with my challenge on eating more slowly. I haven’t been perfect, but I have tried hard to be more conscious when I am about to shove all my food down my throat at once. Thanks for inspiring me!
Congratulations! they already look great even without the manicure.
The manicure is on me!
I am so impressed that you just stopped cold turkey and never looked back! That is so inspiring to apply to any bad habit! You should definitely treat yourself to a manicure!!
Oh my GAWD. I’m sorry, but your nails LOOK SO MUCH BETTER!!!!!!!!!!!!
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Are you gonna stick with it?!
Aw SNAP! Your nails look so much improved and healthy!! You did a FABULOUS job with challenge – I say there’s nothing you can’t do when you put your mind to it, Miss Heather!
You go! They really look a million times better!

Hey, I’m a nail biter too & I’m wondering if your nail bed just started growing back or did you push it? & What happened to your cuticles in Week 2 :X
No, I didn’t push them back between weeks 1 – 2. They were pretty broken and bloody, so I think just being left alone for awhile helped a lot.
It just started breaking out of no where? How weird.
