He Says: I’ll Give You A Free Cookbook
IF!
See, you knew there was more to that! Since it’s my birthday I’m feeling a bit self indulgent and rather than just pick a random number out of a hat or a salad spinner I’d like to make this one a wee tad more interesting. These rules are simple, but first…
I made this recipe last week based on the specifications of a cookbook by Danielle Svetcov called The Un-Constipated Gourmet.
Heather read it back to front and has these things to say:
Good Things About the Book
- Good topic: what goes out is determined by what goes in
- Go-meter - a toilet roll icon accompanying each recipe that indicates a recipes ability to make you go
- Standard recipes based on high fiber foods with the author’s key foods like cheese, black beans, almonds and boysenberries.
- No pictures

The book presents 3 ways to make pesto, for this expedition I chose Traditional Pesto with spinach with basil instead of solely basil as the ingredients suggest.
It turned out freakin’ awesome. Lots of fresh garlic, iron rich baby spinach, nutty nutty nuts of the wal, Hangry Heather’s freshly grown in-house basil, lots of romano cheese blended to creamy perfection alongside a healthy heap of regularity inducing extra virgin olive oil. If you know me, and by now you probably do, it’s as if someone said “put that guy’s favorite ingredients in a Cuisinart and bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz – what? I can’t hear you? Turn that thing off!”
Yeah, it was that good. The garlic was so fresh and abundant it was spicy. Everyone at work loved it (the next day). Too bad they didn’t get to eat any.
Heather wrote about it, in case you were unda’ a rock that day.
Back to the (possibility of) free stuff. Enter to score yourself a free copy of The Un-Constipated Gourmet by following these extremely simple rules.

I’m not doing a poem because I have no mailing address if I were to win (plus I’m an English teacher, so it’d be embarrasing if I didn’t win!) but I do want to say Happy Birthday!

Does haiku count for
this contest? I hope so since
that’s all I can do.
Mark, Mark, your posts are
so witty. A happy late
birthday for “He Says”.
Pesto recipe
that makes you go? Who wouldn’t
want to try that, eh?
July 8th, 2009 at 10:48 am
Cookbooks are rad
especially for me
since in the kitch
I am superbad.
This blog’s the coolest because
Marky Mark and the funky bunch
cannot compete with Mark and Heather’s
one, two, three knockout punch.
You guys are creative
With the “he says” and “she says”
But I wish there were more of
“Thats what she said”
When I read this blog
I cant help but laugh
I also love your video product reviews
Next time make one into a haiku
Happy Birthday Mark!

Dear Mark,
Mark, let me first wish you a happy twenty-eight
So sorry it came a little too late
Seems like a great book about food and its fate
Don’t we all need some pointers on how to un-constipate!?
To see if I make it to you tube will be great
Hurry, July 10th, I can hardly wait!
July 8th, 2009 at 11:40 am
Happy Birthday to you,
Happy Birthday to you,
Please give me a cookbook,
that helps me to poo!
July 8th, 2009 at 3:55 pm
There is a girl named Heather
Eating things that make her lite as a feather
She met a guy named Mark
This makes her a happy lark
They love to talk and cook
Making recipes from a specific book
The Un-constipated Gourmet
Can you please send a copy my way?
July 8th, 2009 at 4:57 pm
Thanks for liking my book!
July 8th, 2009 at 5:53 pm
Mark, Mark, your a pesto making fool.
)
Your mad kitchen skills were making me drool…
I would love to win but I gotta say,
Does a book about pooing need pictures anyway?

Here is my poem! Kind of lame, but whatcha gonna do? Thanks for the opportunity and happy late birthday!
Oh, Mark
I say: You know how to brighten ones day
Your not annoying like a dog’s bark..
And your humor is #1 all the way.

Nobody wants a sad Mark, so here I am. This isn’t an entry and here’s my poem to explain why:
There once was a blogger name Mark.
A cookbook he wants to postmark.
But, my ass would explode
if it arrived at my ‘bode
So send to who’s poos are quite stark!
It took me 30 minutes to write that piece of crap (no pun intended). That’s how much I care.

A Haiku
“Mark”
oh he rocks my socks
with his bee-yoo-tiful girl
hangry all the way
I obviously missed my calling but I feel like I can do better… so you may see another one of these pop up
July 9th, 2009 at 10:38 pm
Marks food looks so yummy
cuz he aint no dummy
His pesto makes me want a scoop
Even better if it makes me poop
I want this book
So like Mark I can cook
July 10th, 2009 at 7:25 am
There once was a man named Mark
He hailed from a land called FART
He cooked up a storm
Injested a galore
And the rest as they say is history
July 10th, 2009 at 8:04 am
My heart jumps with glee whenever
A post from you pops up
Really, Mark, you make me laugh, and
Keep me reading HangryPants
(that’s called an acrostic poem!)
July 10th, 2009 at 11:09 am
Roses are Red
Violets are Blue
You’ve got a neat cookbook
And I’d like one too!
July 10th, 2009 at 4:08 pm
She wears the pants,
but you’re also hangry.
We enter your contest,
so please don’t get angry!
I’d like the new book, please
– how happy it’d make me!
I’d give it a looksies
and read it so deeply!
July 10th, 2009 at 5:45 pm
(sung to the tune of London Bridge)
Marky, Marky has to go, has to go, has to go
Marky, Mary has to go
Cuz he’s un-constipated.
July 10th, 2009 at 7:13 pm
Cookbooks are fun,
I never want this blog to be done!
You and Heather,
make me happy besides the weather!
Mark is cute,
I’m glad Heather shares her loot.
Your blog is sweet!
I might have to subscribe to your Tweet!
