She Says: I Choose Yoga

by Heather Wednesday, July 29, 2009

I just got back from the best yoga class. Oh I was a sweaty mess by the end and my hips! Oh my hips feel so open! People sometimes ask me which I prefer, yoga or running. The answer for me is easy. I choose yoga! I love it like nothing else. It makes my heart happy in a way that running does not.

I didn’t eat anything before so when I got home I was v. hungry. I had a half a cantaloupe stuffed with plain Stonyfield yogurt and Farmer’s Market white peaches and blueberries.  I’ve seen Quinn eat her melon like this and was excited to try it myself. V. fun and fancy.

I also had two pieces of this Dave’s Killer Bread.

It was in an unlabeled bag, so I am not sure exactly what flavor it is, but it has raisins in it and is completely wonderful! So fresh and soft. Love it. As an east coaster I feel so fortunate to be able to have this in my house!!!!

Speaking of Dave’s Killer Bread today is the last day to enter the giveaway here and here.

I’ve been slacking in the yoga department lately. I’ll try to start doing it on Saturdays so I can recover from the rest of the week.

Fancy melons – ha ha (I’m either a 12 year old boy – or Sarah (LOVE YOU SARAH!!))

I’ve never had a feeling that my “hips are open” – wouldn’t be able to even begin to think what that feels like!

  13. 14 Penny says:

I love the way you had your cantaloupe! I am growing cantaloupe in my garden this year (and I’m growing A LOT), so I will have to try it this way.

I love Yoga and Pilates!! I need to get a cantaloupe!

  16. 17 Quix says:

That melon looks delicious! I honestly would choose running. Yoga is my necessary evil, but if I didn’t have to do it to stay limber and not a mess of knots, I so wouldn’t.

Another half already? You’ve brave. I did my half about a month after you and I’m not doing another until Jan/Feb. I am working short and fast this summer (mostly because it is WAY too hot to run outside here in Texas and I cannot do 12 mile runs on a treadmill, yuk) and improving my 5k times. Happy training!

The feeling that I get from yoga is like no other – I LOVE it!! Did you do pigeon today? That always gives me the open-hip sensation! Eating canteloupe like a little bowl is my absolute favorite night-time snack these days!! I fill it with berries and yogurt, and it somehow feels like dessert!

  20. 21 Heather says:

Amanda – Pigeon at the end for a super long time!
