She Says: New Sneakers!
Morning Everyone! I got a fun cookbook in my inbox this morning! Meghan from Help Meghan Run is training for the Nike Women’s Half Marathon with Team in Training. One of her fundraising plans is a cookbook Healthy Eating Made Simple: Tips and Tips for All, which is a full color PDF broken into three parts: Nutrition Basics, Nutrition Tips and Meal Ideas. It’s only $10 and all proceeds go to Megan’s Team in Training Fundraising.
Today is the last day to win your free MojaMix! Enter here.
In honor of the day, I had my Hangry Pants Summer Muesli Mix with bananas + milk. I mixed in a scoop of Trader Joe’s Raw Almond Butter and it was delicious!
I brought my new iced coffee combo with me to work as well: Iced Coffee + Rice Milk + some Chocolate HempShake I received from Nutiva. I still don’t have a blender so I shook this around about a million times. It provided a nice early morning arm workout and some chocolate to my coffee.
After work, I am going to get new running sneakers today! What kind of running sneakers do you wear and how did you find them? I wear Asics. They are the most comfortable and light on my feet.

I have been using the same asics forever — they’re getting beat up, but they are still the most comfy for me!
July 15th, 2009 at 9:51 am
I wear Mizzuno’s. They work well for me! Great breakfast!
July 15th, 2009 at 10:22 am
I wear mizuno wave ryder’s and have been forever, but I kind of want to try something new. maybe aasics…
July 15th, 2009 at 10:32 am
if you wait until the summit you can go to marathon sports. They will watch you walk, bring out some shoes then watch you run in each pair outside. I bought mizunos and have so happy with the fit.
You must have a place like this by you.

I alternate between Mizunos and Asics, and love them both! I feel the road more and feel faster in the Mizunos, but I love the Asics for long distances because they have great cushioning.

i have adidas right now. we went to this running store where the guy analyzed how we walked/ran and picked shoes for us. they are the best fitting shoes I’ve ever had.
July 15th, 2009 at 10:59 am
Even though I am not running, I have running shoes. They are asics and I went to the running store and was fitted for them. They are super supportive and have plenty of room for my toes. I love them!
July 15th, 2009 at 11:00 am
I wear the Asics Cumulus with Spenco insoles. They are lightweight enough that I can wear them comfortably for racing and speed work. Unfortunately, since I’ve been buying them, the price has increased about $20! Boo!
July 15th, 2009 at 11:00 am
I wear Asics too! I got fitted for them at a running store- they did a gait analysis and helped steer me towards ones that would be right for my feet. I have the world’s flattest feet- HA.
July 15th, 2009 at 11:01 am
I’m an Asics girl too! I wore addidas for a while, but once I started running cross country in college I switched and haven’t gone back since. I go to a local running store that is very hands on and knowledgeable and they know when I walk in to bring me a whole pile of Asics.
Good luck with your new shoe hunt!

I am running in Reebok’s right now and am not too happy with them but I think it’s my feet that are the problem, not the shoe. I really want to get serious about running but need to make a trip to get orthotics and have my gait tested by the pro’s at a real running store that can recommend the proper shoe for me.
July 15th, 2009 at 11:10 am
i wore sauconys and loved them, but i’d definitely recommend getting fitted at a running store if you can!
July 15th, 2009 at 11:30 am
I wear Asics too! I had never been fitted before I went to buy these, and I can’t believe the difference a good shoe makes. It’s like running on marshmallows.

love your seashell vase, by the way.
July 15th, 2009 at 11:33 am
you should go to bonnet point next time youre around. lots of baby seashells!

Mizuno…which reminds me I need to get a new pair!
July 15th, 2009 at 11:52 am
i really need new exercise shoes! please let us know what you end up getting! and your muesli mix looks wonderful!
July 15th, 2009 at 12:04 pm
I have had a LOT of trouble running (serious pronation, stress fractures, etc) so I finally got myself to Paragon (17th & bway… we can grab a snack!) where they have you run on a treadmill, film you doing it, and analyze your gait. I ended up with Asics Gel Kayano 15s, which have an extra thick sole to keep my feet from turning in.

can’t wait to see the new kicks!
July 15th, 2009 at 12:10 pm
I wear Nikes now, but used to wear Mizunos. For both, I was fitted at the running store after they analyzed my running. I ended up in the Nikes after an injury & the sports med dr said I needed a wider toe box, which the Nikes have. I like the pair I bought so much that I ordered a 2nd on on Nike.com that was on clearance (same pair!). I never thought that Nikes would work for me b/c they felt too wide…turns out that is what I needed all along! LOL!
Your breakfast looks yummy!
July 15th, 2009 at 12:20 pm
I wear new balances and love them! They style I have is fantastic for arch support (for those with flat feet, like me!) Can’t wait to see what you pick out!
July 15th, 2009 at 12:28 pm
I love Asics, but I currently sport some Adidas. They’re super supportive–I saw a woman in the gym 30 years older than me who was sporting the same pair! Ha!
July 15th, 2009 at 12:37 pm
new sneaks!! how fun
I wear Nike Pegasus and love them! I would buy other brands because I’ve heard Asics is great but I love having the Nike+ app
July 15th, 2009 at 1:24 pm
i love asics, they fit the best with my feet/orthotics
July 15th, 2009 at 1:28 pm
I suggest going to a running store with a track and try on several pairs before buying any. It’s fun and they make sur eyou get the shoe that fits your foot properly. You could always write down what you like and buy it somewhere else for a little less $$ as well, but I enjoy supporting the local running stores so they stay in business so I can keep coming back
July 15th, 2009 at 1:53 pm
DEFINITELY Asics – they’ve been my go-to for years of distance running
July 15th, 2009 at 2:07 pm
lol on the arm workout
i went to a running store with a track and treadmill, and let them figure me out… then I got two pairs one for outside (seriously our sidewalks and roads are crap so it’s like a trail run) and one for the treadmill with tons of cushioning for my annoying knee! Asics and Nikes respectively.
Hope you find a great (cute) pair!
July 15th, 2009 at 2:07 pm
i wear asics too. i love them, they give me great support. they’re awesome!
July 15th, 2009 at 3:37 pm
this is kinda embarassing but i wear whatever’s on sale at ross’ dress for less. they sometimes have random sneakers for super duper cheap. right now i’ve got a pair of new balance running shoes that i scored for $30.
July 15th, 2009 at 4:01 pm
I’ve been all about the iced coffee lately too, it’s quick and doesn’t make me break out in a sweat when drinking with my hot oats
Yay for new sneakers!!! I just bought a new pair of Sauconys last week. I always forget how great new sneakers are until I get out running with them. My old pair were Asics, I thought they were nice and light too. But I also like the stability the Sauconys provide.
July 15th, 2009 at 4:50 pm
your bfast sounds incredible! i wear asics and LOVE them! i need new ones though :/
hope you’re having a great night!
July 16th, 2009 at 12:44 am
I wear Saucony sneaks. I think I need to upgrade, too, because this pair is getting old!
July 16th, 2009 at 4:24 am
I bought a new pair last week that are arriving in stock today…I am so excited to pick them up! They are Saucony, which I have never worn before, but I’ve heard good things about the brans. My shoes before this were Brookes, which were great. Can’t wait to see what you get
July 16th, 2009 at 3:05 pm
I wear asics 2130 stability. Now they are 2140 (new year, new # I guess). They are perfect for me. I alway wore Nikes or Brooks and someone recommended these and I literally just go in the store when I need and new pair, grab them (and pay of course!) and can be running in them by the afternoon. All my other running shoes would have to be worn in a little when I first bought them. These are also the first shoes that I have never had a blister with. Shoes are like men though you have to find the right one for you!!
July 16th, 2009 at 8:09 pm
I tried those on today!
