She Says: Ch Ch Ch Chia!
Hi Everybody! Boy is it hot out!!! I made sure to get in my 6 miles early this morning before it got too hot. Not it’s will into the 90s and I just saw someone running. I wanted to yell out, “Are you crazy?” but decided to mind my own business.
When I came home enjoyed a creamy bow of oats with a secret ingredient.
Greens+ sent me this lovely container of Omega 3 Chia that come complete with their own pronunciation key.
Some Chia information from the Greens+ websites.
Salvia hispanica, also known as Chia (pronounced chee’ah), is the richest and only unprocessed, whole food source of pure Omega3. A member of the mint family, Chia is native to Central America and has been used traditionally for over 3000 years.
Ancient Aztec warriors prized Chia as an endurance–promoting Superfood, eating it in bread just before battle, and drinking it in water before running long distances on foot. Mixed in lemonade or fruit juice (known as chia fresca) Omega3 Chia seed quickly becomes a refreshing, performance-enhancing energy drink.
The oats were made with bananas and Trader Joe’s Raw Almond Butter and were the perfect post-run breakfast.
Yesterday I used the Chia seeds to make Hearty Buckwheat Pancakes.
I used Angela’s swirl technique with Peanut Butter + Bethany’s Preserves.
Mark’s decided to cut out most dairy from his life due to intense headaches he thinks might be caused by all his cheese eating, so these are also vegan.
Alright guys, after another day in the classroom I am off to NY for some much needed yoga with Lindsay. See ya later.

I keep seeing people eating the chia seeds, and it’s making me curious. My fiance is going to laugh if I try and add MORE to our oatmeal… Flax was crazy enough for him.

Buckwheat is one of my favorite things, especially in pancakes. I just downed a bowl of kasha varnishkes (buckwheat with bow ties) and I am feeling very happy…I think buckwheat is so sustaining in a way that other grains aren’t. That’s a very clever idea for the pb&j swirls.
