She Says: Yoga Month Day 6 – Appreciate the Heat
This morning I took my 6th yoga class in a row. Each of the previous classes were t 6:15 pm, but this was a morning class. Morning classes always feel a little different to me, but today I felt especially weak and tight. Could be that this was two classes in less than 24 hours or that I was a little weak from having blood taken this morning. I also don’t think I using my core as much as I should; I need to work on that. Luckily, I was able to give myself a break and enjoy the class anyway.
What I should have done during the class was appreciate the warmth of the heated room because the rest of my day was frigid! Mark and I went to pick up our race packets for tomorrow and hiked around Manhattan in the absolute freezing cold!
Luckily, we soon met my friend Kelli for a warm beverage and late lunch at Le Pain Quotidien. I apologize … iPhone photos ahead.
I started with warm tea, agave and some milk.
For lunch, I ordered the Ricotta Tartine – an open sandwich on wheat bread wwith mission figs, black pepper & organic acacia honey.
It was simple and delicious, something I plan to recreate at home. Can I also say how much I enjoyed eating an open sandwich in little triangles. I am only eating sandwiches like that from now on!
I also sampled Mark’s Mediterranean Verrine with Goat Cheese – whole wheat taboule, babaganoush and roasted red pepper sauce. It was cute and tasty.
We also tried all these fun spreads (one was chocolate, two were fruit) that came with the bread Kelli ordered.
I really liked this little restaurant and this whole day, actually!
Well, I need to get all of our stuff ready for the big day tomorrow. Good luck Mark!

Good luck with the races tomorrow! I hope it’s not too cold up there. I love that sandwich — so simple and classic!

I walk past LPQ all the time and live near one and work near one and have never been inside, other than once to get a cookie. Crazy, right?! I now NEED to go in after seeing your food. See you tomorrow!

I can’t believe you ate at Le Pain Quotidien! It was just on Throwdown with Bobby Flay tonight! Bobby was getting advice on waffles from the owner who is from Belgium. Even the spreads that Kelli got were highlighted! I loved the look of the inside of the restaurant, so rustic and homey (at least that’s what it looked like on TV). It’s all just fabulous and amazing in my mind!

YUM, haha i’m always self conscious and mumble “le pain quotie;ajc;ieakls”, b/c i don’t know how to pronounce it!
As for the yoga class, I’ve had that experience at the gym, or on dance teams before..and I just smile, or make a small talk-type comment..even if u just get first names it makes the class way more comfortable!

you are doing such a great job with the yoga challenge! I totally agree- morning workouts always feel COMPLETELY different to me than afterwork work outs. They both have their pros and cons, as well.
