She Says: Signs of Spring.
Unless the dehydrated garlic and onion pieces on my Everything Bagel count as vegetables, I did not consume one vegetable yesterday. It’s an unfortunate truth and not something that displays healthy eating, but it happens. Well today, of course, I was looking forward to a slightly more balanced day of eating.
After yoga, Mark and I walked over to Elevation Burger for some lunch. Nature’s Path sent us some of their new organic granola bars to sample. On the walk over to lunch, Mark and I shared the Choconut Granola flavor.
Chewy and coconutty with some yummy chocolate chips.
Along the way we spotted spring!
Isn’t it amazing that last week two feet of snow covered up that flower?
Elevation Burger was packed today! We met the owner, Matt, and he treated us to lunch.
Mark and I each got a Veggie Burger – mine in a lettuce bun & his in a bread bun, a small salad and olive oil fries.
Mark’s Veggie Burger was a real cutie.
My Veggie Burger was delicious and the fries were extra crispy and delicious today.
Thanks again, Matt. We’ll be back soon!
After lunch we walked around Montclair a little more and found that Red Mango is now open! We were too stuffed from lunch to get anything, but I will be back!
Question Time:
Sarah asked,
Do you have any advice in regards to starting a yoga routine? I always feel better when I do yoga but I find it difficult to motivate myself to do Yoga. I’m always tired after doing cardio and strength training plus my mind is typically running making it difficult to focus on the moves. Any tips or advice or motivation?
It seems like you are doing yoga after you do some other kind of exercise and are really tired. I suggest picking a day and doing only yoga. Many studios have discounted rates for your first visit. Another motivator is to get a new yoga top! Both of these things help me! Also, if you just get yourself in the car and drive over there you will be s
Speaking of yoga, Courtney wrote a really interesting post about yoga and body image, specifically using yoga as a way to achieve a certain body. It’s definitely worth a read.

Those bars sound so good! I can’t wait to get to try them
Elevation Burger sounds so yum! If i ever come for Dave Matthews yoga we will have to go after. You look so pretty in that pic!
I think we all have days when our best intentions for healthy eating get way off track…I too consumed too few vegetables yesterday!!! You just gotta balance it out the next day
Awww pretty flower.
I’m going to have to try buying a yoga shirt to use for motivation. Ialso think that I’m going to dedicate one day this next week just to yoga so I don’t feel tired and not want to do it.
Thanks for the mention
And no veggies in a day? No worries. That usually makes me feel unhealthy too – but then I remember that it’s just one day out of my whole life. Not too shabby
What a wonderful burguer!
I wished brazilian restaurants served bun-less burguers. Lettuce buns, like yours
And, about receiving Nature Path´s samples – how cool is that?!
Haha.
Have a great Saturday, girl!
Brazilian XOXO´s,
Gabriela
Oh I love how those flowers start to pop up! Aa sure sign that good weather and daylight are just around the corner. That burger place looks delish, and the owner was so nice to treat you!
How did you get a free lunch? Did you tell the owner you were a food blogger? If so, I am kind of jealous, but I also think that’s kind of rude.
Kris – you might remember that Heather just did a giveaway with Elevation Burger! Heather writes about them all the time and they obviously know her and decided to treat her. She’s been giving them lots of free publicity…
Kris – Make assumptions much?
Kris, I think it’s funny that you asked. I would want to know, too. I’ve been writing about EB for months now and like Dori said, I just did a contest w/ them. It was just a thank you.
that’s so exciting you saw a bit of spring today! i saw a TINY bit of green grass and it made my day
I definitely agree with devoting a day to just yoga, always works for me
I love that Elevation Burger offers lettuce buns!
Hooray for seeing a bit of Spring today – I’m sooo ready for warmer weather.
Seriously, Kris?!
Nice bars baby. What are the other flavors. I am intrigued with anyone who makes a pumpkin spice bar!
I wish we had an Elevation Burger near where I live!! So cool that you can order a lettuce bun!!
I didn’t know Nature’s Path had new granola bars out! They sound yummy! Coconut in a bar is one of my most fav. flavors!
happy Sunday Heather!
I’ve had those non-veggie days before too, usually when I get really busy and just start grabbing meals on the run.
Those veggie burgers look incredibly delicious! I also love the small signs of spring beginning to appear.
I’ve totally been noticing spring lately; birds flowers, breezes. So nice! Today I’m even wearing a sun dress (albeit a heavy one with a jacket, but still…)
Happy Sunday Heather (And Mark!)
Oooh, those veggie burgers and fries look spectacular- making me hungry!
It feels like spring here too- I busted out the flipflops!
