Day 3, Taco Flavored Kisses

Another day, another taco Salad. Maybe I’m bending the rules with this one, but it’s so good I don’t care.

  • Lettuce
  • Ground Turkey with Turkey Seasoning
  • Onions
  • Corn
  • Shredded Cheddar Cheese
  • Black Beans
  • Black Bean & Corn Salsa
  • Lime Juice squeezed on top

This one rates a strong yeah on a scale of ugh to yum. It was like eating a taco except instead of using a semi-stale flatly fried Fritos cracktraption as a means of delivery it’s in a bowl and eaten with a fork. Gotta admit, American efficiency at its finest.

Day 4,  Portable Protein Power

I accidentally left this salad in the car all day. Luckily, my car was in a garage that acts as a giant insulator so the temperature stayed down. Acknowledging the fine line between the common Turkey and lesser well known Turkey ala e.coli I ate it anyway, with my hands, on the drive home from work. I went to work the next day without gastrointestinal incedent.

  • Spinach
  • Sundried Tomatoes
  • Cheese
  • Cucumbers
  • Hardboiled Egg
  • Black Beans
  • Turkey
  • Macadamia Nuts

The cheap Stop N’ Shop sliced turkey was good but my favorite part of this, and probably any salad, is the cheese. The macadamians have a nice oily pop and provide good texture amidst an otherwise mooshly conglomeration.

Day 5, Narfle the Garthok!

Heather from Hangry Pants, that’s who.

Retrospectively, I see this mixture clearly exhibits Heather’s youthful exhuberance and undying commitment to innovation.

Either that or her taste predictor gland is malfunctioning. Strawberries and carrots?! The people at Odwalla must be bouncing around their hemp cushioned easy chairs – that’s rule number one in organic vegetable juicing school broken! This is an abomination of conflicting flavors that would leave the ordinary tongue of an ordinary man confounded and without legal recourse..

Luckily, I am no ordinary man with no ordinary tongue.

  • Spinach
  • Turkey
  • Strawberries
  • Raisins
  • Black Beans
  • Carrots

I just narfled that Garthok.

She Says: First Grade Fun

Wednesday, February 11th, 2009
Hi Everyone! The first grade was a blast and I didn’t have to move around all that much except for the fire drill! My ankle is really feeling great. I am quite amazed what a little ice, Advil and compression will do! I am not planning a run just yet, but I am feeling more optimistic about my half marathon chances. I think soon I can bike, ellipticize and maybe even use my new 30 Day Shred DVD I won from Biz!

For dinner tonight I had a very plain and simple dinner.

Black beans (not from a can = excellent), brown rice, sautéed spinach and garlic and eggplant chips, which I made extra crispy by accidentally cooking them for more than a half hour. It was perfect to me. Mark thought the eggplant was a little bitter and he’s probably right. I did not beat it as well as I could have tonight.

After dinner I wanted something sweet, so I went for an honest food cran lemon zest bar.

Picture 019

This is my second time eating this bar. The first time, I wasn’t sure I liked it. It has a very powerful flavor. This time, however, I decided I like it. It definitely tastes like cranberries and lemons rather than being cranberry or lemon flavored. I will have to take a better picture next time.

Alright now. Let’s be honest here. Did any of you see Mark’s previous post with the scantily clad lady advertising the “Black Party,” (which I am aware refers to the party’s theme and not guests). Anyway, weren’t you offended by the picture (I think most readers know that his sarcastic writing style and desire to embrace all kinds of food could sense he enjoyed the meal and all it had to offer)? I was. At first I told him I wanted him to take it down. I don’t always agree with what he posts, but I can’t censor him, now can I? He’s not one for internet politeness, so bring it. Why is this virtually naked woman advertising a party? Why is it posted in a restaurant ? Who is this “ad” aimed at? I assume men. Isn’t it interesting how pictures of the ideal/beautiful woman are drastically different depending on whether the audience is male or female? It’s possible I am overreacting and this isn’t flagrant objectification. Let me know if you have an opinion on this matter.

Also, Meghann is having an awesome giveaway on her blog, so check it out here.
