She Says: Almost, But Not Quite

Thursday, May 14th, 2009

I almost went the entire day yesterday consuming only one serving of peanut or pecan butter. Almost. But not quite.

After dinner last night, I headed out for a run based on my new modified training schedule. I totally zoned out and dreamed of the day when I have my own classroom, blogger summits and Lost. I also thought of Veggie Girl Caramel Banana Bread. The run was wonderful! It made me happy to be a runner! One day I will have to take pictures of the beautiful street I run down. It has giant trees and the leaves of each tree touch to form a tree tunnel.

Running Stats:

  • Miles: ~ 6.8
  • Time: 58:07
  • Av. HR: 157
  • Max. HR: 171
  • Cals: 445

When I got home, I pulled a slice of the Caramel Banana Bread (recipe here) out of the freezer and ate it calmly and rationally while watching Lost. That show is awesome and crazy and even when I have literally no idea what is going on, I love it. I used to try to figure things out, but now I’m just waiting until they spell it out for me – next year I presume.

Anyway, the bread was so delicious (even after being frozen and defrosted), that I went for another piece with … Pecan Butter.  I took a quick phone picture in between bites. I didn’t have time to set it up and eat nicely when all I have is commercial breaks to get everything done!

Post Lost, Mark and I walked to the neighborhood Quick Chek so he could Do the Dew. It was Throwback Mountain Dew in a Throwback Bottle. I love Quick Chek, if for no other reason than the crazy products they carry. Last night I found Giant Cheetos. Basically, it’s five large cheez-balls lined up in a bag and available for purchase if you can scrounge up 59 cents. I must take more pictures in there.

Throwback Dew: CARBONATED WATER, SUGAR, CITRIC ACID, NATURAL AND ARTIFICIAL FLAVOR, SODIUM BENZOATE (PRESERVES FRESHNESS), CAFFEINE, GUM ARABIC, BROMINATED VEGETABLE OIL, YELLOW 5

Modern Dew Ingredients: CARBONATED WATER, HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP, CONCENTRATED ORANGE JUICE, CITRIC ACID, NATURAL FLAVORS, SODIUM BENZOATE (PRESERVES FRESHNESS), CAFFEINE, SODIUM CITRATE, ERYTHORBIC ACID (PRESERVES FRESHNESS), GUM ARABIC, CALCIUM DISODIUM EDTA (TO PROTECT FLAVOR), BROMINATED VEGETABLE OIL, YELLOW 5

Mark thought Throwback Dew tasted like pure sugar on a wet fingertip. He also found it thinner than the Modern (is that the opposite of throwback) Dew.

QOTD: This morning I had the same oat breakfast I had every day this week. I absolutely MUST go to the supermarket today. It’s a non-negotiable. The only vegetable in my house is in a salsa jar! I am feeling a little adventurous. What one item MUST I pick up at the market today?

She Says: Believe the Hype

Thursday, May 7th, 2009

Good morning everyone!

For your reading pleasure, I created a new Favorite Posts Page for new readers to catch up and learn more about Hangry Pants and for old readers to be reminded of our awesomeness. I also updated my Recipes, and guess what? I bake a lot. And if you need a little live Hangry action, check out the Videos page.

Alright, now I am still having server issues, so I apologize for that. Mark has explained what is going on several times. My anology is that it’s like Hangry Pants is on Lost. Right now it’s in the past and in the present. Existing in two places in time means things (posts, pictures, comments, etc.) can get lost along the way. We are Mark is working on it!

Until then, please accept this picture of my breakfast from yesterday as representative of both today and yesterday. In the bowl is:

  • Plain Yogurt
  • Greek Yogurt (plain)
  • 1 T peanut butter
  • 1/4 C Oats
  • Flax

All of that was left overnight in the fridge and then in the morning I topped it with some cereal. It’s completely delicious and filling!

So, as I alluded to yesterday I got a Veggie Girl package ….

First, let’s establish that she is pretty much a professional baked goods shipper.

Second, let’s establish that Veggie Girl is really an awesome baker. Stare in awe at Banana Caramel Bread.

Some things that do not translate via pictures. First, this loaf is gigantic and extremely moist!  Seocond, it might look like ordinary Banana Bread, but it is hands down the BEST I’ve ever had.

I give it five stars!

It’s based on a recipe from Veganomicon. You can see a similar loaf with Veggie Girl’s recipe here.  It is so moist and delicious. It is perfectly cooked all the way through. The hints of caramel in there are awesome! I love it and vow to only make Veganomicon Bananan Bread from now until forever!

We had it for dinner last night. Mark has eaten half the loaf. I’ve eaten what can only be considered an embarassing amount.  Mark had it again with peanut butter for breakfast. Thank you so much Liz!

In other news, I am going to my first Mets game tonight!

I am neither friend nor foe of the Met’s, but they have a new stadium and we’re going with lots of friends, so it should be fun! What is your favorite thing to eat at a baseball game?
