She Says: Parties & Peanuts

Sunday, June 7th, 2009

If you like choosing baby names like I do, then head to my SIL Megan’s blog and help her choose a name.

Last night we went to a graduation party where Mark revealed his new look. It was rather exciting for him. I would like to say that I wasn’t anti-Mohawk as Mark would lead you to believe, but I didn’t think it was the appropriate time. It wasn’t his day after all!

The party was fun and there was tons of delicious food, including a large sandwich cut by a small lady. You remember Mark’s Cousin Donna and her two part video series, right? Well just in case here is Part I and Part II. I know the housewives of New Jersey are popular these days, but really they have nothing on her!

She also made these adorable little graduation caps out of Resses Peanut Butter Cups and Chocolate Covered Graham Crackers.

When I got home I guess I hadn’t eaten enough chocolate, so I had a No Bake Cookie.

When I woke up this morning I knew just what I wanted for breakfast – P.B. LOCO!!!!

I had two slices of bread. First, I used the Peanut Butter with Sumatra Cinnamon & Raisin . I love this flavor!!!! I actually hate raisins in food, so I wasn’t sure what I was going to think of this, but they are not squishy and mushy and they are perfect with the cinnamon.  I could eat this whole jar right now!

For my second slice I couldn’t decide which flavor peanut butter I wanted, so I chose both! Half with Jungle Banana and Half with Cinnamon Raisin. I love both flavors, but if I had to choose a favorite, I think I might go with the Cinnamon Raisin. The Banana is good too (and I would add in case that the banana flavor does not taste fake at all), but I just love the cinnamon with the peanut butter. MMMMM. Thank you P.B. Loco for send this to me!!!!

She Says: Chocolatey Breakfast!

Wednesday, May 27th, 2009

Oh my! I basically just had dessert for breakfast and it was fantastic!

I received some coupons from NaSoya to try out their new Silken Creations, a creamy non-dairy alternative for dessert recipes. I found this in the market with the other NaSoya products in the produce area.

This morning I decided to use the Dark Chocolate flavor in a smoothie. I should say that before this experience the only NaSoya product I’ve used is the extra firm tofu and I had no idea what the expect when I opened the container! Here is what I found:

An extremely thick and creamy chocolate pudding like substance. It was delicious! I licked the cover! All I could think of was eating it in a chocolate cream pie!!!!! It was so rich and creamy and I could not tell at all that it was made from soy and a non-dairy product.

I used a 1/2 C serving and added about 1/4 C of water and some frozen bananas to create a smoothie.

I enjoyed this chocolate drink with a nice bowl of strawberries.

Here is the nutritional information for the Vanilla. The Dark Chocolate information is similar.

I am not sure I would use it for breakfast again. The Dark Chocolate has 18 g of sugar, which is kind of more than I like to have. It is, however, similar to the amount in flavored yogurt

Overall, I enjoyed using this product and I think it probably is perfect for someone who does not eat dairy and is looking for something chocolatey to use in dessert recipes and smoothies, or to simply eat directly from the container. There are a ton of recipes online and I think next time I might try to bake with it! The possibilities are endless!

I am about the head out on my last run before the half marathon on Saturday! I can’t even believe it. Tomorrow I will be picking up my race packet! I’ve only run in one 5K before and there was certainly no race packet. I am excited and nervous. Any tips for my first real race?
