She Says: Now that is bread!
Tuesday, January 27th, 2009Last week I tried to make Victoria’s Whole Wheat Flaxseed Bread, but mine did not look nearly as pretty because I forget to add oil. I really wanted to continue practicing my homemade bread baking, so when I went home this weekend I begged and pleaded my mom to let me borrow her Kitchen Aid Mixer and she finally gave in.

I have to bring it back in February, but for now, I am pumping out the bread.
Last night I tried the Mixed Brown Bread from p. 291 of Apples for Jam. I followed 90% of the recipe. I used the Buckwheat, Rye, Spelt and Wheat Flours, but I did not have Bread Flour so I added more Wheat instead. I also used pumpkin seeds instead of sunflower and sesame.

I love this bread! It’s quite tasty and soft. I had it with big chunks of cheese and an apple for lunch. Baking your own bread is not hard, it just requires patience and time. It’s well worth the effort because nothing tastes as good and brings a wonderful smell to your kitchen like fresh bread!

Also, Honest Foods planks and bars have brand new packaging.

I can’t wait to dive in! I’ve seen them on many blogs, but never had any of the bars (formally known as Country Squares I believe) and only tried a bite of the Blueberry Vanilla Crackle Plank. In fact, I didn’t wait. I already tried a Maple Almond Crunch Plank, which was off the radar delicious. Thank you for the samples Honest Foods!
I’m off to the gym then I have to buy envelopes, which is something I hate to buy. I also need to get a new magazine for the elliptical. Anyone read a good magazine recently?
Have a fabulous Tuesday afternoon.
