She Says: Mojaly Wonderful

Saturday, July 11th, 2009

Hi Everyone! It’s such a nice day. I know lots of people are missing the summer heat, but not me at all! I love the breezy less than scalding weather. :D Who wants to drip sweat anyway?

When I woke up I had my breakfast that I prepared last night: Stonyfield Plain Vanilla Yogurt  + overnight muesli. It was a special treat because it involved my new Hangry Pants Summer Mix Muesli from MojaMix, a create your own cereal website. I’ve been a lucky lady with trying these new customized cereal and granola companies. I’ve tried Mix My Granola, Me & Goji and now Moja Mix.

I chose to make muesli because of its versatility as it can be eaten hot or cold. Also, if you have a cereal eating problem (as in cannot stop at one bowl), muesli helps out a lot.  You can see the nutritional information as you build your cereal and they have unique and interesting cereal ingredients like goldenberries, raw cacao nibs and pine nuts. My only complaint is that compared to the other brands I mentioned, this bag was a little lacking in the quantity of the add-ins: the ratio of oats to dried fruit and seeds is a little low. Despite that, my personal combination of fruits and seeds is delicious!

  • Rolled Oats
  • Figs
  • Pears
  • Quinoa Flakes
  • Kamut Flakes
  • Fuyu Persimmons
  • Hemp Seeds
  • Chia Seeds

It was delicious! I love doing overnight muesli because it thickens yogurt right up and I just I loved the combination of fruits I picked, especially the seedy figs and pears.

I also had a special Chocolate Iced Coffee. I added some Chocolate HempShake I received from Nutiva.

It would probably blend better if I had an actual blender, but I just added the powder and mixed with a spoon. It provided a nice little chocolate twist to my iced coffee.

After all this I went to the gym and watched Ruby while ellipticizing. I came home and did my C + K 10 Minute Challenge and took on the monster chore of cleaning my bedroom closet. I think I write about doing that a lot and it’s because I HATE IT! I actually hate all chores.

She Says: EAS Myoplex Strength Formula Review

Friday, July 10th, 2009

Before I get to the review, I’ve gone full fledged Twitter Addict. I am still learning, but I know I need to say: Follow Me!!!! And follow Mark.

Onto the review …

Abbott’s EAS sent us some complimentary EAS Myoplex Strength Formula shakes to sample. I’ve never purchased my own protein shake (but I will steal some of Mark’s), so last night I recruited Mario and Luigi Mark and his brother Dan to help me taste test and review.

They played Street Fighter.

Strawberry Cream

IMG_7479

  • Heather: Tastes like Pepto or the milk left in a bowl of Captain Crunch Red Berries.
  • Mark: Less like Pepto than Muscle Milk Strawberry Cream. Thumbs up.
  • Daniel: Less sticky than the average protein shake and pretty good for a strawberry drink.

Vanilla Cream

IMG_7481

  • Heather: Tastes like milk and not really like vanilla until after the sip is over.
  • Mark: Less goopy and sticky than other protein drinks. There is no metallic taste in there either. Thinner.  Like strawberry better.
  • Dan: Tastes like vanilla soy milk.

Chocolate Cream

  • Heather: I love this one best because it tastes like chocolate milk and who doesn’t like chocolate milk?
  • Mark: More like a traditional protein drink, slightly metallic.
  • Dan: Tastes like chocolate pudding.

Overall, Mark and Dan loved them. As natural consumers of protein drinks and shakes, they appreciated the lighter and less metallic taste of the shakes. Strawberry was my least favorite, but they really liked it! I loved the chocolate one because it was just like chocolate milk. So, if you are looking for a protein drink, I would recommend checking these out.
