She Says: White Tea Smoothie

Wednesday, June 3rd, 2009

The other day I saw Angela make a Green Monster that contained tea. Then I was reading the May issue of Health and saw a smoothie with green tea, bananas and blueberries. They both sounded and looked delicious, so today I gave it a shot.

White Tea Smoothie

  • About 1.5 C of brewed and chilled tea
  • 6 oz. plain yogurt
  • strawberries
  • 1/4 cup of the frozen fruit
  • Raw Agave Nectar for desired sweetness (or banana)

I just put everything in my food processor and added the agave at the end. It was delicious & refreshing and I can’t wait to have it again!

I also had an Amy’s California Veggie Burger. I love these burgers! They are flavorful, crunchy on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside. They are not over salted and they do not contain any soy! Thank you Amy’s for making such delicious things!

Thank you for the good luck wishes for  my interview this morning.  Before I went I hade my own personal favorite power breakfast – oats with bananas and ground flax. Plus coffee.

I think the interview went well, but of course, ya never know. It was actually really fun! The school is wonderful and, as I’ve mentioned, across the street from my house. I’m not sure how many people can say they had fun on an interview!

Have you ever had an interesting job interview? Something really funny or a true disaster?

She Says: Chocolatey Breakfast!

Wednesday, May 27th, 2009

Oh my! I basically just had dessert for breakfast and it was fantastic!

I received some coupons from NaSoya to try out their new Silken Creations, a creamy non-dairy alternative for dessert recipes. I found this in the market with the other NaSoya products in the produce area.

This morning I decided to use the Dark Chocolate flavor in a smoothie. I should say that before this experience the only NaSoya product I’ve used is the extra firm tofu and I had no idea what the expect when I opened the container! Here is what I found:

An extremely thick and creamy chocolate pudding like substance. It was delicious! I licked the cover! All I could think of was eating it in a chocolate cream pie!!!!! It was so rich and creamy and I could not tell at all that it was made from soy and a non-dairy product.

I used a 1/2 C serving and added about 1/4 C of water and some frozen bananas to create a smoothie.

I enjoyed this chocolate drink with a nice bowl of strawberries.

Here is the nutritional information for the Vanilla. The Dark Chocolate information is similar.

I am not sure I would use it for breakfast again. The Dark Chocolate has 18 g of sugar, which is kind of more than I like to have. It is, however, similar to the amount in flavored yogurt

Overall, I enjoyed using this product and I think it probably is perfect for someone who does not eat dairy and is looking for something chocolatey to use in dessert recipes and smoothies, or to simply eat directly from the container. There are a ton of recipes online and I think next time I might try to bake with it! The possibilities are endless!

I am about the head out on my last run before the half marathon on Saturday! I can’t even believe it. Tomorrow I will be picking up my race packet! I’ve only run in one 5K before and there was certainly no race packet. I am excited and nervous. Any tips for my first real race?
