“Hi Pies!” ~ Erin (Yes, Erin has permeated my vernacular as well). As Mark said in his previous post, I was called last night to substitute today! Yippee! It was wonderful to feel like a productive member of society again, even if just for a day. It was kindergarten too so the kids were super cute and just hugged me all day long. Call me again! Call me again!
So this morning, I grabbed a quick and portable breakfast. I also brought my coffee, which I’ve been making w/ cinnamon and turbinado sugar right in the grounds. I add soy milk and it’s excellent!
I packed a nice snacky lunch too. The granola with plain yogurt was the highlight because … I need to tell you something – Nature’s Path FlaxPlus Vanilla Almond Granola (which was also in the box of goodies we received) tastes like Rice Krispies Treats Cereal!!!! It is ridiculous. Good thing I wasn’t at home when I ate it or the safety of the whole box would have been compromised.
I also like the texture of the granola because it is not too crunchy or hard, so there is no risk of cutting the roof of my mouth. My only beef with the granola is the ingredient of whole flax seeds, which I see as pretty much useless to me because they’re indigestible and I feel like it’s a healthy buzz word fake out.
Kicked My Butt Too
Maggie recently wrote about Dave Farmar free yoga podcasts, so of course I had to try. I did the 60 minute 9/1/08 intermediate class and while there was a lot of sustained pose holding, there was also a fair amount of flow. You get to flip your dog and do half pigeon and birds of paradise (there is no explanation in the class for what these terms mean, so if you don’t know, probably start w/ a beginner class).
My arms were literally shaking at one point and they’re pretty sore today. Not “I can’t lift my arms” sore, but close. I would not recommend this class to beginners because, like I said, he does not explain poses and uses the sanskrit quite a bit.
I am off to make this manly meal. Seriously, Mark was pretty funny when he told me the Quinoa and Lentils was a “side dish” and not a main meal. I know he thought he hurt my feelings, but he didn’t! I loved it and would eat it as a meal again. I guess every once in awhile I need to cook him up some chicken too!
